Just when I started to enjoy my recently dropped and full suspension upgrades, I just got rear-ended yesterday in early evening traffic. No driver license, no car insurance, no car registration.

I refused to release the brake pedal when I saw the car coming in my mirror. I didn't want to repair front and rear... Luckily, the car in front started to move forward right before impact. More details in my link.

Back to topic, I like our bracket option, regardless of the price. Dealer said it was the cleanest and best looking solution they've seen so far.
Sorry to hear about the accident. At least you weren't hurt and the car doesn't look too bad.

Front Liscense Plate Alternative

I also don't like the front plate, but don't need the hassle of being stopped.. Here's my approach, keep in mind I'm no fabricator, I'm sure this could be improved upon.

I did fold the lower portion of the plate, the current MO tag doesn't have anything important on that portion. Just trying to make it as small and unobtrusive as possible.

http://****************/products_chev.html. This one runs about $100. Some say it is expensive, but I am very pleased with it.

Doug,

Installed it and never regretted. I hate the cheap plastic dealer drilled brackets. Nice work.

Or you can just go plateless like me. Front plates are mandatory in NY too, however, I believe that you can't get pulled over while driving with no front plate. I haven't yet and if I do, I don't really give a shit.

Yes, you can get pulled over for not having a front plate in states that require it, including NY. If you haven't been then the cops just have more important things to deal with. But don't be surprised if you do eventually. Ohio usually has a crackdown, at least where I'm originally from, about once a month.

I'm in Texas... no front plate for me. I keep it handy, I rather pay the fine. Not putting it on.

These alternatives just make it look ugly! :S
I was thinking of taking of the front number plate plastic holder (ugly) and placing only the number plate on the SIDE of the front bumper. Can't do it now cus' there will be 2 holes showing from the current one. Im thinking of buying a new front bumper without drilled holes and placing it on the side.

...will look amazing!

This mod that you've posted allows the plate bracket to contact the paint, not a good idea... have to find a way to do without having the bracket touch the paint, which is what the ones above are. They don't touch your paint and removes the chance of scratching your car.

agreed. i'd like to think there would be some way to craft a landing pad on the rear of the plate cradle though. was just throwing out ideas though, and it was something different. be sure and let us know what you decide on...

Front plate in Texas

I had a Silverado with my front plate in the wind shield behind the wipers on the passenger side and drove past local and state police and they never batted an eye at me. I have military plates so that could be a possibility as to why not but they never flipped around to come after me. I think just as long as the plate is some what visible you should be fine speaking from my experience.

I moved to a place without front plates so if anyone wants my plate holder let me know! It's nice!
