LOL just noticed the LS9 on the hood bulge. I think you could call it Fred and no one care at that point what IROC stood for.

I'd
REALLY ORDER an LS9 CAMARO ?! Steve, meet Fred! I'm not sure about that "Berlinetta-inspired" tail light panel/license surround... |

I'd probably buy one too. Something about that LS9 that I really like. I think that engine in the ZL1 would have been perfect. I for one would have happily forked over the extra $$.

Well, if they have the wherewithal to assemble more LS7'd Camaros, maybe a Final Edition ZL1-R with an LS9 isn't alchemy after all...

How much more? I think an LS9 was $25000 from GMPP. So that's a 10 to 15 grand premium for only 50 HP

Sounds about right. Hell, the first one will get charity a $million from Mr. Hendrick, alone...
Seriously, some Z/28 elements, some ZR1 "stir", keep all the speakers in it this time, $500/horse X 58 horses (throw in the rims/tires/brakes/seats/glass)...VOILA! ZL1-R Final Edition! 69, only...and only 69 of 'em. And the -R stands for 'ROIDS! Priced an "aftermarket LS9" lately?! With a Dewey Dickem and Howe warranty? ...and further, the ZL1 is an awesome car for the money. I really love it. But, it is heavy and after driving it for a season I feel it could use an extra 50-80 HP. I now find myself seriously pondering putting a blower pulley on my car. I've not been overly impressed with the aftermarket "tuning" (I refer to it as calibration) process. These guys don't really understand what they are doing. I know a thing or two about engines, combustion and calibrations. These tuners in most cases aren't formally trained in engine calibration or combustion analysis. They just basically wing it.
So, it's about $2500 for a pulley, CAI and dyno cal. I'd gladly pay double that for the same thing from the factory that is backed by warranty. I touch my LSA and my warranty is out the window. I realize that I may be in the minority in my thinking here. |

If you add a TVS2300, upgrade the i/c, build more boost...with LSA internals...you'll be a-wishin' you had a -9 instead of an -A...
...and some of those Z/28 dietary supplements (including the lighter/shorter wheel/tire combo and c-c brakes) would be mighty fine, as well... |
