MAF Sensor Removal -

This is probably a really stupid question but I searched all over Google and here on Camaro5. I am replacing my MAF sensor as I have one of the poor ones. When I installed my CAI, I kept the sensor connected to the harness. I'm pulling pretty hard and I cannot disconnect the sensor from the harness itself. The one I have has a grey plastic lock on top - in either position the cable does not want to disconnect. I don't want to break the connector - is it just a matter of pulling harder or is there another trick? Thanks much for any and all guidance!

Had the same issue. Didn't want to break it.

Wold like to know if there can be put in wrong?I asked how to remove off of TB and a guy said "The whole black plug comes out. Press on the bottom of the black clip to release." They look the same so try that.

That center tab on top has to be pushed down. That releases the latch, then it pulls off. Mine doesn't have that grey/white thing around the tab like in your pic. Maybe it did a long time ago and I threw it away. But you'll have to remove that thing, then push the tab down.

An '11? Are you sure it actually has a MAF problem?

It's got a single letter and not the letter/number combination. It had flowmasters installed at the dealer, and now I have the CAI intake. All along I've had a cold hesitation issue and while most threads here state that's just the way a LS3 behaves, a couple threads indicated that putting in the "good" maf fixes that problem. It may be a waste of 90 bucks but I wanted to give it a try. I'll try pressing down on the center a bit more - tried that and it still didn't want to budge - will go check again. Thx for the tip!

Got it figured out - slide the gray lock towards the front, then press on the black tab the gray piece was covering. Thx folks!

Mine has the letter/number combo and is also a bit cold blooded for the first mile or two. Funny thing is I also have a brand new Equinox. That thing falls on it's face even worse for the first mile or two on cold mornings. Once past that first mile they both run perfect.

I think they just forgot how to program cold starts. I've had probably 10 brand new cars in a row that ran perfect from the first second of a cold start, now two in row that run like an old carb'd car that needs a choke pull off adjustment.

Mine has that gray lock on it and I had to replace mine. It's too simple. Just take a flat head screwdriver and push the gray tab back which is locking the harness in. After it's pulled back, the harness will pull right off. This is the same with headlights. After you install the new one, just push the lock back into place. And yes, my '11 needed a replacement. These MAFs are good until you do any mod..i.e. exhaust, cai, high flows...etc.

The new MAF is installed and after a brief drive I've noticed 2 things. 1) The rough idle I had which fluctuated around 500-600 RPMs appears to be gone and 2) it seems more spirited/peppy when getting on the throttle. It was warm when I swapped it - tomorrow morning is the litmus test. If I don't have the hesitation I had when cold, this change is a no-brainer and I hope that GM starts using the good ones going forward. An exhaust and intake is on many folks' short-list of performance mods.
