It's going to be a tough choice next year. A white SS with IO stripes/interior or a black 5.0 'Stang with brick red interior. If the 'Stang is quicker and faster in all departments, I might actually make the switch because I don't see the Camaro changing at all next year other than very slight improvements not related to performance.

Actually, you are wrong. This leak does stop people from buying the Camaro if what they want is a better handling and faster sports car.. Lots of enthusiasts and racers will wait on buying the Camaro SS now that they know (because of this intentional leak) a better faster car will be coming out unchallenged in the same price point. Furthermore most people interested in the Mustang won't care about speed and be getting a V6, their bread and butter regardless). We all know this year, the Camaro is top dog in its price range. However next year the 2011 Mustang takes the top spot and I say "let the wars begin"... GM will have to lighten the Camaro in a Z28 package that can beat the GT500 and GT combined so we can see unfair Camaro Z28 vs 2011 GT's and the tables reversed. lol.. Currently the Camaro SS has been pitted up against the more expensive GT500 since the 2010 Mustang GT loses in almost every category.. Your statement that no one will buy a Mustang sitting on the lot this year with a leak like this should say "enthusiasts" instead of "everyone" since that would be true.. Enthusiasts interested in the Camaro however will think twice and some will go for the faster 2011 Mustang GT. That is where this hurts GM and was a smart "leak" on Ford's part... As for all those 2010 GT's on the lots, they will sell to those uninformed folks that will not and are not interested in top dog speed and performance..With that said the 2010 Mustang GT is no slouch either.. It's nice to have the pony wars back, hopefully it lasts out against the "green" movement that is undoubtedly taking over everything..

I've owned 2 Mustang GT's and I would not give my 2010 2SS/RS Camaro for 10 of them, don't care how much HP they come up with. Post pictures of them side by side, camaro looks just stinking mean. It's like it's going 1000 mph sitting still. I was cleaning my car yesterday and a GT started to pull in by me to the next stall until she seen me. Off she went and left a couple of black marks pulling onto the road. O'Well I don't blame her! Lol

Like I said, the Camaro looks a whole lot better than the current Mustang GT, even the GT500 and the Corvette's. That in itself will be the number one reason the Camaro stays on top in sales.. As for enthusiasts that simply want to "win" at the track.. Those don't make up a large enough number to make a difference in sales if they choose the 2011 GT over the Camaro SS next year. The good thing for Ford will be all the magazines seem to be on their side most of the time while creating categories in order for the Current GT to be able to beat the SS even though the GT loses in all races against it. However in the end, this is all good for the pony wars and GM has its work cut out next year to come up with a faster SS or a Z28 if it wants to be "King of the Hill" in its price segment past this year.. And yes, it is currently number 1 in speed, handling and looks.. Ford really should have waited to release this engine with a complete re-design of the Mustang GT in order for it to make a dent against the Camaro in V6 sales..

Whats the weight going to be in this car ?

im curious what there automatic gear ratio is going to be like for 1st gear.....possibly a 4.03 like ours ?

Discussed this in another thread already, the M3 does not weigh 3700b. BMW weighs their cars differently than do American manufacturers like Ford and GM. Weighed in the same manner that GM and Ford weigh their cars the M3 would come in just shy of 3500lb.

I don't get the M3 stuff; why does it keep getting brought up? As I understand it, it was someones personal car that was there on their own accord, not a professional driver. Why in the hell would you compare a car being driven by a professional to a random driver?

The rumor mill is thick with disinformation, but then that is to be expected. This isn't a comparison to specific M3 but typical M3 times at Ginerman. Also, what on earth would lead you to believe that Ford runs around testing their mules with professional drivers behind the wheel? This wasn't a time trials at the Ring, this was one a million different shakedown runs that will be made with these cars. The guy behind the wheel was most likely an engineer with a weekend racing hobby, but he was no professional driver to be sure.

Very interesting indeed.


I was considering a 2010 GT500 but I think I'll wait and see what Ford has in store. I think the new Coyote engine is gonna be a blast. If Ford actually decides to put the Mustang on a diet that will make it even more potent. Lots of good stuff in store I'm sure.
