New member looking for mod advice

Hello everyone, I'm new here and well new to muscle cars for the most part as well. I have ordered a 2SS RS and this is the first muscle car I've ever bought.

I know a decent amount about vehicle basics and I'm pretty handy but I'd like to add some HP to this beast once it gets here because I don't want to get blown off the road by some teenage ricer. Problem is I've never really done any performance enhancing mods and don't have a clue where to start. The fastest thing I've ever owned was a 91 F150 Nite which actually blew away most ricers hehe but thats far from this Camaro.

Anyway, once I have this car payment I'm not going to have a ton to drop on mods but I would like to slowly build my HP. What are some good fairly wallet friendly things I should think of doing? (preferably not warranty busters)

Axle-Back exhaust- Add few more hp, more of sound and will not void your warranty
Intake- The injen adds about 20hp also will improve mpg and not void your warranty
Those are the two cheapest things that will add hp and not void your warranty.

Thanks
Would a full cat back void the warranty?

I could save a couple weeks for the slightly more expensive stuff, just not trying to hit supercharger type money

lol yeah dont wanna go into debt changing a brand new car... btw welcome to Camaro5!
I heard that a cat back could void the warranty, but i am not 100% on that. I would ask your dealer and see what they say. Because if anything were to happen to the vehicle they may try to blame it on that... with that reason when were worried about our warranties most have been sticking to the axle back cause its only really changing the mufflers.

noob, Welcome to our happy little corner of the net, and to Camaro5. There is a BIG fridge on the back porch with anything you can think of in them...help yourself...of course only take what you can LEGALLY have. Make yourself at home on one of the big fluffy couches, kick your shoes off, put your feet up on one of the tables, yes we are allowed to do that, mom's and wive's here don't care....and take it easy.

oh...btw....every once in a while a food fight breaks out...so you may not want to wear nice clothes here.

Welcome!!

A tune voids it. A full cat-back will benefit you more, and not void your warranty. You should definitely talk to your dealer about what they'll let you do.

I was told by my dealer as long as the exhaust doesn't contribute to any engine failure I'm good. It does void the exhaust warranty being the fact it's not factory. As far as hp goes, everything I read on this forum said a cat-back will add a little hp where an axel-back adds sound only.

I put on a CAI intake with no tune. But, there are several that also do not require a tune and some that do.
