1LE shifter

I posted this in the transmission forum but got no hits. I figured this might be a better place since you all have the shifter I want:

For any ILE owner who previously drove a regular manual trans SS, how much better is the shifter in your cars? I am thinking of getting one but haven't been able to find any definitive review comparing stock SS to ILE.

Any better/worse for missed shifts?

Is it a noticeable improvement?

General pros/cons?

Would very much appreciate your insight.

As far as missing shifts, I've never had that problem. In other respects, however, the 1LE/ZL1 shifter makes downshifts (especially in a hurry) a lot more comfortable, at least to me.

In general, the 1LE shifter is among the best I've ever felt. The only real con is that the suede will eventually go to shit, especially with a sweaty palm.

I've never owned an auto car yet, 240Z, 280Z, Porsche911, BMW... I find it pretty good. Little notchy, but mine is still new. It really loves double clutching on down shifts. I bought the 1LE because the Boss 302 was renown for having tranny issues. I'm a road race guy, so I can't give you any drag racing input. Even around town it is easy and fun. Motor has so much torque you can pretty much choose how often you shft,

Owned the SS (non 1LE) with the factory installed Hurst short shifter. I occasionally miss pulling the shifter all the way down into second.

The 1LE shifter is like night and day difference over the SS one. It's smoother, more deliberate, and a lot shorter throw. Wish I also had the 1LE shifter in the regular SS! Don't care for the suede like someone else posted 'cause it's gonna get filthy - that's what driving gloves are for ...

So far my shifter has been great. I think it feels a lot better than the regular SS shifter. I've had lots of manual vehicles in my time. I've also had good luck with the Hurst billet shifters, in both f-bodies and mustangs, not the factory optioned shifters, but the aftermarket shifters made by Hurst.

I like the feel of mine. It's a bit notchy as described prior, but there's no slop. It feels better than the stock shifters I experienced on test drives.

I had the the Barton Shifter on my '11 and I like it better than the 1LE shifter. Less play and adjustable throw. I still have mine and I am just waiting for Barton to come out with the '13+ base so I can keep my stock 1LE know which is the best knob of several I have tried. Also the Barton is a good deal. Both better than Hurst.

But how did the 1LE shifter compare to the stock SS shifter you had in your '11 (before the Barton went in)?

I have the Barton shifter as well and compared to my brother in laws 1le, the Barton is shorter and more accertive putting it into gears.

I do not notice any play in my 1LE shifter, it feels very tight in that respect. My question is...how much shorter is the throw with a Barton compared to the 1LE and is it worth the price to change. I do realize the last part of that question is subjective just curious on as to your opionions....Thanks for the input.

Zl1 is 22% reduction and Barton is 46% reduction. Both are vs stock shifter. Pretty big difference.
