Cadillac ATS-V First Tests

An M3 says “I love to go fast but I also need you to know I’m rich.” The ATS-V says “Bite the curb.”

More than I'd spend on a 4 door car bit it looks pretty damb good. I'll watch the reviews later, expecting loafs of positive feedback and a whole lot of anticipatipn for the new CTS-V.

Well **** me..i thought this was a 4 door.

Well double **** me, it's both lol

How is this supposed to compete with them M3/4 if it's 200 lbs heavier?

Same way the 1LE spanked the Boss302 around the track.

Uh, the 1LE beat the BOSS because it had better tires and suspension. That can't be said for the ATS-V.

40 more horsepower for starters, I bet it will compete just fine with the m3/m4.

Weight is part of what a car is, being competitive is about what a car does. What I mean is that nobody ever looks for a car that weighs 3580 lbs, or 3760 lbs, or 3356 lbs or any other number. If it performs right, and feels right, then it doesn't matter how much it weighs. Weight certainly plays a role in what makes a car good, but its not the only factor.

Where is the weight, where does it come from? Do all the components work together in harmony or is it a disjointed mess? I don't know how the ATS-V does those things in relation to the M3/M4 but since the reviews all point to the M3 & ATS-V being practically on top of each other in terms of performance specs, I'd say that GM did a pretty good job at creating a competitive product. If it was 4 or 5 tenths behind in the 1/4, took an extra 10 ft to stop from 60, and could only manage 0.9g on the skidpad ... then yeah, they wouldn't have a competitive product. But simply being heavier? Not enough to say it can't compete.
