Now we're talking!

What kind of times were you running 'before' you installed your stall? What brand and speed stall did you go with?

Thanks man.

Real world numbers from a whipple with a pro torque 2800.

Before converter I had a best of 11.2 with low 1.6s.... After converter I was running 11.1 with high 1.5s... A little bit down the line I threw in 3.45 gears. With that combination I'd run anywhere between 10.9 and 11.1.... As you can see from my numbers I didn't see any big improvement.... One size doesn't fit all. I agree with what others have said. You really need something custom spec'd for your mods.

I've also seen in person gains of .5 with the correct converter in our 5th Gens. Mike fast SS gained .5 or more with a converter change only.

My pro torque is hurting my times. After adding a cam over the summer I'm now running 10.3s but my 60 hasn't improved. The converter is coming out over the winter... I'll give you a great deal on it if you want.LOL...

I will say it is real tight and drives like stock

There's what I was hoping to hear. Does Pro Torque make custom spec'd stalls or would I have to go with FTI or another brand? Just not sure if it's worth the hassle for one tenth?

Thanks for the info.

TVS setups come into boost and power much faster than a NA setup, so the OE converter does work decent. You will not typically get the half second gains you see on an NA setup, but will still see some decent gains. Be happy to discuss some of the options and what your goals are with the car. Shoot me an email or give me call at the shop.

OP- Maybe look into something like a stock ZL1 converter. We've sold them for like $100 new when we pull them out of crate 6L90's.

I didn't realize they were any different? Thanks for the heads up

Synergy, adding those skinnies alone might net you that 10.99. Not completely apples to apples but my 60 also dropped with skinnies and weight reduction.

60 ft and ET are a product of weight vs horsepower and a few other factors.

Thanks man. I actually wondered if the skinnies would help me with my 60' time? I'm going to upgrade my rear suspension with some BMR goodies and make sure my rear alignment is dead on. Plus, the extra power of E85 wont hurt either. I'm way too close to running 10's at this point to give up. I'll look into a TC after I see how she does with these mods.

Thanks guys! This forum continues to help me make my car faster and stronger.

The skinnies will help you drop 60 and ET. You are going from ~62 lbs for each stock front tire to 38-41 lbs per each Drag Star rim. Weight will depend on which tire you went with. Less weight on the nose. Will leave quicker. Will transfer weight quicker. Less drag from the wide contact patch of the stock front tires.

Cool. Makes sense. I'm going with the MT Sportsman S/R (radial) for my front skinnies. Not a huge fan of bias ply. Especially since I'll be driving them to and from the track (50 miles away). It'll be a big improvement over my hefty stock 20's up front!

I think with good track prep, good DA, skinnies, and meth you won't need a converter to break into the 10's. I think you will get there without it. I also Agree with Chris at Circle D, you won't see near as big of a gain with your setup vs a NA setup! My car LOVES my Circle D!! I have run 1.52 60fts with under 400hp and bone stock suspension!
