Your thoughts
I was in the Chevy Dealership a few days ago looking for any left over 13 ZL1's and this dealership has several including a yellow coupe and convertible as well an inferno orange couple and blue ray. There is also a very nice Stingray on the floor, white with black wheels and 70k msrp.
However, when I got there I immediately saw this on the showroom floor. I have been following this car for sometime and thought it might look better in person. Exterior wise it is even more unremarkable than I had imagined. Bland and unbefitting of the price tag was my original thought. I am happy that Chevy is giving us the performance we've longed for and a rear wheel drive, big V8 performance sedan is just what the company needed, but I am just not sold on this car. The Pontiac G8 GT/GXP was a better looking package. With that said, it does have a nicely appointed interior and the seats look and feel great. Was this an afterthought just to find something to do with the G8 architecture? They're calling this the first true performance rear wheel drive with a Chevy badge in 17 years I believe. Chevy put no real marketing into this car, so I am worried about its future already. No one knows what it is... not even the salesmen I have encountered. What are your thoughts? Where does it fit in the lineup? Would you buy one over a SS, or more specifically a Challenger or 300 SRT-8? Where are the aggressive looks to compete with those vehicles? Just thought I'd mention this car for you true Chevy enthusiasts and see if i was the only one who felt this way. Last edited by snackbar64; 11-17-2013 at 04:17 PM. |

It may very well be a sleeper. Power wrapped in so-so sheet metal.

What I find strange is this car has a gas guzzler tax included yet has the same engine of a SS putting out about the same horsepower. Don't think it weighs much more if any.

I sat in a full size luxury sport sedan yesterday at a dealership and it was bad to the bone! A 2014 Benz S-550 wow!! That car your looking at kinda reminds me of a cavalier with ground effects.

It's a Sport Sedan! I think it hit the mark perfectly. You need to understand what it is. It's not supposed to be like a Pontiac. It fits nicely in the line up.

I agree and that is my only problem with it. There's no sport to it. Does it look fast? Favors a conservative family sedan. I think the interior is packaged nicely, but who buys a car like this out of the blue over an Impala or Malibu other than a serious enthusiast who knows about the car's potential? I don't think it has earned the right to be so highly priced. All of the vehicles like this from Chrysler look the part and pack 470 hp. This car came out of nowhere with a bloated price tag.

I understand your point OP. I do think there are people that are "Sedan" people that will really like this car. Most of us here have "performance" lenses in our glasses.

I'd rather have a 300 SRT8 which I currently drive now. I looked at the Specs for the SS and wasn't impressed what so ever. I like the seats of the SS, though. That's about it.

There are vehicles out there that have both. The SS doesn't come close. The "Sport" in sport sedan refers to the interior. That's about it.

I wonder if the engine cover for the SS is a direct swap on the Camaro?

I think the car looks really nice. There has been some debate about the price. I believe the G-8's were much cheaper when they were up for sale a couple of years ago. It still is the same Austrailian sedan as the G-8 and they want almost 2x the amount for it right!? Yes I think the engine cover could be swapped with a camaro V-8 cover.

At least it has a push button start and assuming keyless entry. These things should be standard on our ZL1
