Is it possible to change gauges colors in the 6th gen

I find the white pretty boring and I like the blue color of my 2012, anyone know if it's possible to customize the color? Haven't found anything online.

I don't recall seeing anything about changing the gauge colors either.

Man that second gauge is ugly.

I would say no unless you want to take the cluster apart and change the LED's on the board. That goes for the 2 main gauges. The other ones are on the display, they can be any color as long as the software is written to do so (but doubt it, they are white to match the main gauges). That's just my $0.02.

the 8 inch screen shouldn't be hard to change, I would assume someone will make an aftermarket firmware for it but as for the gauges we can only hope that they change with the modes and then they would be adjustable.

Anyone know if there are any pictures out yet of the gauges without the 8 inch configurable display yet? I am curious if your volt meter and oil pressure gauges will still be included in the base instrument cluster, or if you have to pony up for the configurable display to get the extra gauges.

Doubtful. The C7 does not feature custom gauge lighting. At least there will be custom ambient lighting which is a nice touch.

Also no pictures of the standard cluster yet, only the 8".

If you have the skills to get the cluster apart and are able to solder, GM typically uses a mix of Osram plcc2 and plcc4 smd led's in their instrument clusters. Osram makes the GM aqua color, I think its called ice blue if I remember right. For the everything else like the switches ect. GM typically uses a 0805 smd LED. They are so small you need a magnifying glass to see your work.

The leds are super tiny and you need a fine tip on your solder gun and the ability to adjust to a lower heat setting. Also a solder whick or solder sucker is preferable to de-solder the old leds. Its an easy job for someone versed, but I wouldnt recommend anyone doing this if you've never soldered small parts. Thats not to say you cant learn. I would grab a cheap cluster from a junk yard to practice on though first. If you screw the GM cluster up, they only sell it 1 way....and thats the entire cluster as a unit=$$$$$$$$

yeah, ummm...no thanks.

Not trying to be a dick or anything, but damn, take the cluster apart to change the colors...sounds like a whole of of risk for little reward, but again if you have the skills to take it apart and put it back together perfectly, and not break anything while doing it... I guess.

That's the current Camaro gauge cluster...

(Well, the center display is lower color than the current cluster, but that may have been used in earlier models.)

It would cost GM virtually nothing to use RGB LEDs everywhere and give owners some menu options to choose any color they want. A few more traces on the PCB, a few more transistors, and another couple days of coding and they'd have it. My guess is they're just white LEDs though, and if so, a missed opportunity on GM's part.

I really don't know much about the legalities of patents or copyrights, but I do believe Ford holds a patent for the RGB cluster in the Mustang. If patent issues aren't the case, I really don't know why they didn't make the gauges/switches change colors as well. It would be an option many people would pay for and like you stated, it would not be that difficult to achieve.

Really? What a dumb thing to complain about, the gauge cluster looks great, get your color kicks with ambient lighting.
