I have the same package as the op ,and I always drive with the nannies off,if you have been driving your car long enough you will know when you are going to get in trouble.

But I will admit even with my multiple types of racing experience this ZL1 has surprised me with how fast the rear can come out under throttle without nannies on in some temperatures, a function soley of the tires I believe.

One thing I always remember when driving this car is the more the road curves the less throttle I can use.

The big key to this whole thread is temps. If you are in anything less than 50 degress you better keep the nannies on. You can see my video posted at VIR with a A6 with and the traction controll turned off even after getting the tires warm in a previous session it jumped out from under me with little to no throttle change. Going up a hill is very slippery in the cold. These tires are hard as a rock. Now when it warms up go for.
There a guy at Road Atlanta in 50 degree weather that spun out and he too relized you need the traction controll even at the track on cold days. He also posted a video of it. If you watch you will see no warning before it jumps out. JMHO

power?
I ran my ZL1 in Oct at our local track on the last test and tune for the year. I thought putting it in Mode 5 was the thing to do. Man was I wrong!!! I spun 3/4 down the track. I have installed the Roto fab intake, Biggulp, and 87 TB. No Tune. At the time the mods were affordable and made the most HP for the Money. In the Factory Tires (after getting the light down) I ran a 12.22 at 116 in the 1/4. I found to get traction even after warming the tires up. I started in 2nd and still broke them loose for the 1st 30 yds. I have the auto trans. One of the guys at the track had a 2010 twin Turbo SS and was running 11.50. He told me that if I had a set of slicks on I could be around 11.8 poss 11.6. I an vary happy with the slight Mods I'v done, and the gains in Power. I don't street race! I drive my car every day back and forth to work. In my opinion One who owns a ZL1 needs to address one thing. Drag Strip, or every day streetable driver!

The only time I turn the nannies all off is if I want to burn up some tires. The ZL1 has a very good PTM system. I have run many laps in just about every mode, well maybe not PTM1, but yes I have even done several laps in PTM 2. I lap faster in PTM 4 than PTM 5, my car has enough power to spin the tires exiting every corner. It will give you some wheel spin in almost every PTM mode. In my opinion if you want more wheel spin than it gives you in PTM 4 then you want to burn up tires more than you want to go fast. If the tires are spinning the car is not going as fast as it could. The traction system knows this and is your friend. It does not cut any power until it thinks wheel spin is excessive. Each successive mode lets you spin a little more before it intervenes.
