I was faced with the same issues you are dealing with now. I loved my vert but at some point you have to cut your losses and move on. I was so bummed with the garbage I had to deal with, I opted for a coupe rather than take another chance with a convertible.

A ZL1 is never out of the question, I just have not found one that I like.
I would never buy a 6 for myself. My current one is a V8, and if I replace it, I will have another V8. I have rarely heard of any issues with the later gen5 verts. I am sure there are some, but just not a prevalent as the 2011/2012. My 3rd & 4th gens both have t-tops, and since that is not an option, I would like to stick with the convertible. However, I don't want to have another car live at the dealer. Out of all the cars I have owned, only my ex wife's old Ford Taurus was in the shop this much. My 4th gen has 185k+ miles, and rarely had any issues. My 3rd gen is almost at 300k, and it has been more reliable than this top.

Check the convertible owner's thread. Many a tale of woe from 2011,2012 vert owners..... Even went through replacing the canvas top but it did not fix the frame problem which screwed up the canvas and to top it off, the guys that replaced the top forgot to connect the drain tubes to the bladder which lead to my rear footwells to take in a considerable amount of water.

I too never buy first year 'verts of any make. I didn't even want a first year of a new design and that is why it was so very hard seeing them on the road but it paid off for me. I bought a 2011 Coupe to appease my Camaro need and then traded to a 2013 Vert. No issues to date and will be in line for the 2017 50th if I like it.
But to your thinking, I would trade now and then you would be in line for the 3rd year vert of the new design, when all bugs are worked out or you will know all the issues prior to going in blind again.

Love my 2012 Vert, had the top replaced in the fall of 2013, after a few alignment issues that I took care of myself it's been great since.

I was hoping that was all I would have needed, but after the top replacement, the leaks have never stopped. At one point, I had 1.5 inches of water in the battery compartment. Lately, the roof release handle has started rattling as well.

I think that Red hot Commemorative Edition will look awesome at the battery or along Rainbow Row,(wife went to MUSC). Is it at Hendrick?

Actually, that one is at Jeff Gordon in NC. Mine is currently at Hendrick in the shop. I have only seen white and dark grey coupes (Commemorative Edition) at Crews in North Charleston.

Again, if it was me, I'd be in that Commemorative Edition. But that's just me, you know your situation and wants. Good luck with the decision.

Right now, I am waiting to see what they find. Then I will start on getting to a final decision.

However, if I do decide to get a newer one, I did get a private offer looking at the GM accessories for the 2015's last night.

I don't see why everyone seems to think there will be a "huge" drop in price on 5th gens once the 6th gen comes out. 4th gens still cost right about the same as they did 15 years ago when I bought my 98 Z. As long as it's a low milage car in good condition, it's going to hold its value.
