Cool ZL1 and snow.

I am looking into the possibility of getting a ZL1 but it would be daily driven and be used in the snow(when it snows!).

Has anyone driven their ZL1 in the snow winter inter tires(Blizzaks...)? How was it?

thx

Well, have you driven your SS in the snow? Have you used Blizzaks on your SS?

Would be the same

I cancelled my order for a 2SS. Never driven one in the snow.

Actually, I argue that it would be like the SS, only worse.

It's sooo easy to use the HP in this car, that you would need to be extra cautious in snow.

I'm getting a set of winter/ snow tires for mine, but I don't have it yet.

I am sure that a lot of the testing was done int he snow. It is a heavy car. With snow tires and some discipline, I bet it's as good as most rear wheel drive cars. I wouldn't want to drive mine in the snow, but I am lucky enough that I don't have to. Tires are the most important factor in this equation I think.

Amen!

I can tell you first hand having owned both an SS and now ZL1, the ZL1 has a ton more torque with about the same amount of weight in the rear end. Even with snow tires, I would be very hesitant to drive my ZL1 in anything but light snow. Be sure to get yourself a few bags of kitty litter to throw in the trunk. For me, I'll stick to driving my pick-up truck in the snow and leave the ZL1 in the garage.

The car has a very advanced TCS system. With snow shoes and a bit of driver awareness I think you will be fine. It's only as powerful as your right foot. Just take off the cement block off in the winter.

I have Blizzaks on my ZL1. Drove it to New York from Michigan with a few inches of snow on the ground. Handled really well and the traction control kicked in when it should. I'm not worried about taking it anywhere in the snow.

Oh! You're killing me.

What size tires and rims for Blizzaks did you choose?

I've had it get fishy in cold weather with a touch of rain, and that was with Mode 1 on.

I'd be scared to try it in anything more, and I drove a modified F-body for 2 years in the snow.

I have a set of 18 wheels with 235/60/18 hankooks that were on my 1ss, they fit fine and were skinny enough to chew right thru the snow.

congrats on considering to buy a ZL1
BUT
Personally I would not want to use it as a daily driver and or in the snow.

I'm just saying.

The other consideration is that the ZL1 is lower, good chance of scraping the bottom.
