OH NO!!!!!

....I can't believe I did this... I was cleaning my garage out and when moving some boxes up to the attic, I tripped and use the top part of the car (just over the left rear tire's fender) catch myself and it pushed in just slightly... :( It popped out right away but there is a slight bend near but not on the body line. Is there a save way to fix this? It's not deep yet shallow enough for me to notice... I'm so pissed Anyone have ideas to fix this the safest way???

I was thinking I could get a wooden block, wrap it with a sock or something and lay it on top of the area and tap the underside with a rubber mallet. But I fear the paint will crack. Anyone good at this?

whatever you go, do not try to fix it yourself unless you know what you are doing and you have fixed dents before. Perhaps just let it be and see if you can live with it and eventually get it fixed when you get another one. It sounds like we have the same issue...not deep but enough to notice in certain angles and lighthing. I will have mine fixed soon...either PDR or body shop.

Dude...it's simple. Just go to a paintless dent removal place. I've got a guy here in town that I used for my 4th Gen who would take out all the small dents and make it new like it was nothing. He did about 5 dents on the rear two quarters for $150.00.

For one dent, you could expect to be charged $75 to $100....depending on location. It WILL look good as new. But like ffrcobra said, DO NOT attempt to fix anything yourself unless you KNOW what you are doing.

I second the paintless dent removal. I used that service once and it had a 75% sucess rate with all my dents. Its "good enough" without breaking the bank and having serious down time.

Thanks guys, funny enough, there is a paintless dent repair on base where I work. I'll take it by there on Monday. I'm just sick to my stomach when I think about. It feels like the car is tainted. I must really love this car LOL cause before I wouldn't have cared to much about it.

Ok, I got a quote from the guy just now, PDR=$45 and about 30 minutes to do it w00t! and it's an easy repair. However, he will need to do it in his shop this afternoon because it's black and he might need to do some polishing. So far, this is great news! I'll get back with you guys tonight.

That's good news. Sounds like you found the right PDR guy to do it. Guys who know what they are doing HIGHLY recommend doing the job in a shop so they have a controlled environment for the different lighting they use to pin-point the dent and curvature of the metal in order to correctly massage it back to original. Make sure to post some before and after pics if you can.
I am still calling/feeling around for the right PDR guy. There are several of them in my area...gotta find the right one.

May everyone learn from your mistake. Take the extra time to protect your toys. If you are working around it in your garage, move it out into the driveway....you never know what could happen. Never lean over into the engine bay with a belt buckle on, you'll be sure to scratch the fender. Protect your car by using a moving blanket or towel near where you're working on the car. (Even if you're just checking the oil) Sure enough, your drop a screw, nut, dipstick, or wrench and scratch or chip the paint.

You know, when I had my wife take the car, after lunch, to the place and I got back to work, I thought about taking a before and after picture. I tried to catch her, but the work had been done. And she report it to looking good as new and you can't tell that anything happened.... lets just say I'm relieved!

PS I just saw it and it is perfect!
