They can be broken on the street with regular tires.... I also know someone that's gone 11.4 with a supercharged and cam manual with DRs on them... It's just a roll of the dice.

They will survive a lot longer on automatic cars than manual cars. I have seen an auto run 10's with stock axles. We broke ours the first time we took it to the track on drag radials...

I had 625 rwhp on Stock Axles for over a year without breaking one during well over 200 passes on the dragstip. The passenger side finally broke on on the 1-2 shift. I now have DSS 1400hp axles !! It's all in how you drive it. 3000+ rpm's with clutch dump and wheel hop = Broke !!

it depends on the driver. Im making 713 rwhp with the stock axles and I'm about to turn 27000 miles, I've had over 500 rwhp since the car had 300 miles on it.
lets just say I'm very nervous everytime I take off quickly, I have DR's but launch very easily, I can certainly break an axle if I launch it hard. best time to date has been am 11.4 with a 2.23 60 foot. the car has a 10.6 - 10.8 in it if I could launch it properly but until I get some real axles and a driveshaft I'm just going to be gentle on it.
to answer your question, pray a lot and use your head when you drive. oh and keep your AAA membership paid up.
