Has anyone put seats in yet?

Last week I spent the day racing on an open track day and had a blast. The only problem is I also spent the day holding myself in the car. I was wondering if anyone has installed recaro or any other type of seat yet. I talked to my buddys at GM and the floor is completly different from the CTS-v.

I was just wondering the same thing. Maybe the seat brackets could be changed from the SS seat to the CTS-V seat. I will be watching this thread for peoples ideas.

I would purchase and have the Recaro seats installed from the CTS-V in a heartbeat if it was possible.

It's possible and has been done on an SS. I forgot who did it, but is was really expensive to order all the individual parts and install them. If you do a search it may come up.

I may put in some manual racing seats. Saves a ton of weight also.

I had the same thought, but the email from my buddy at GM said the floor pans are completly different and won't work. I was hoping maybe GM parts performance would be coming out with seats for the car. I would much rather have some bad#ss seats in my car, than just have some race seats that I fabbed to be in it.

If you do a search you'll find a post that says Hess Motorsports installed the CTS-V recaros in a Camaro and the seat fame was modified to get them to fit. The cost was about $7k, so it is cost prohibitive for most owners. The seats can be changed, but it isn't going to be a straightforward swap with the airbags, etc.

Depends what you are after with seats. Comfort and appearance...or...function and performance.
I am leaning towards racing seats for function and performance but the ctsv recaros may be good for comfort and appearance. They are far too heavy for performance use.

I'm trying to remember, but I think all the early tests of the ZL1 showed it with fixed back Cobra racing seats installed.

The problem is, Cobra doesn't list one for the Camaro.

I've come to the conclusion in order to gain enough headroom to wear a helmet i will have to use a racing seat on the drivers side. I will make my own mounts and mount it fixed to the floor. I think I would sit at least 3" lower wich would make the car a lot easier to handle. A local shop told me there are wiring harnesses available to rid of the airbag light. Downside, side airbag gone and more difficult to get in and out. If you have a seat that fits you it's very comfortable once you get seated. I will also mount harnesses at the same time.

I spoke with Sparco today and they have a seat bracket for the camaro 2010 which I assume will be the same for the zl1. Then you can pick any seat you want. It gets expensive though: brackets and sliders are 700 for both seats and then a pair of good seats are from 500 to 2000.....I saw a nice one that,s adjustable for 700, so I'll be at 1400+ work if everything fits. I'm not sure if I want to lose the side airbags but at 1g the stock seats are horrible. I have to push with my knee against the door to stay in place. Its ridiculous that there's no optional sport seats for such a high performance car.
