Texas Mile 25-27 March, whos going?

Next Friday to Sunday (25-27 March) is the next run. I'll be there doing photography and videos. If you're running, let me know your number or stop by the paddock where you see my car (SYSADM plate) along with a couple of very cool Corvettes. I've rented a couple of new camera lenses that will get me up close and personal to the cars running down the air strip. Shoot me a PM with your car number and I'll post up the resulting pics and video after the weekend.

I'll also be there at the May 27-29 to do photography/videos, and I'll be running in October to beat my 149.0 that I got last October.

See ya there, don't be afraid to say hi

It was a pretty laid back day today at the mile, tomorrow will be different, as Saturdays usually get very busy with the two day runners and spectators. In our little group gotjiuce? (Arnold) and tx.z_z06 (Art) ran, unfortunately, I left my camera at the track so I cant post pics or video that I took today. First run was Art, He made a great take-off, 1st, 2nd, 3rd...um where's third, it was here a minute ago, ahh found it...wait, no, thats 6th...D&^$m it, almost to the 3/4 mile, 3600 RPM, ok, hit the juice..zip, first run 139mph, an astounding run. Arnold ran next and managed something in the 180's, ho hum, he's run over 190 before, chalk it up to the first run of the day. Art up next, zippy launch, 1st, 2nd, 3rd..YES found it this time, hit the juice, 4th, 5th, 190.7 mph. His second run ever on the mile, he has the car, and is now finding his balls. Arnold ran next and ran a 189, stlll not at the top of his game, but I think he's holding out, he has a plan, and it involves more than one day

In all, there are fewer bikes than last October for a Friday, and all the bikes are slower than before. Most of the cars made good runs, had a few make hot laps, Ferarri 430, White ZR1, and some red car that kept going, pretty slow, but they kept going, which told me they were having fun, and that's what matters.

Lowest speed I remember from today was 61 by some car that had problems and didn't take a turn off, fastest was the ART Viper at 228. For the Vettes, Hinson started their day with a 221, followed by an LMR Vette at 222, followed by Hinson doing 224. This batlle will continue my friends...tomorrow, at dawn, no pistols needed.

I will remember to bring the camera back to my hotel tomorrow, and I'll have links to pics and video from today and tomorrow.

Peace out

I ran 146.7 on my first pass Saturday. I launched carefully on my first ever pass, thinking a mile was plenty of room. That was about 3:00 when we had a crosswind.

I realized I needed to really launch, so my second pass had a good start. I even taped it up waiting in line. A 'Vette guy claimed it bought him 4 mph. Unfortunately, the wind had shifted to a headwind by my second run - only 142.

Nothing got better - 144 on my last pass.

That was bone stock except for no mufflers and new rims. The 22" are heavier, which I knew would hurt 1/4 mile times, but I thought the full mile would be enough. Maybe not.........

Disappointed with under 150.......

First time there this past weekend for me. Tagged along with a good friend who ran his 2011 Mustang GT to a 160.4. Mods:

4.30 gear
4,600 stall converter
CAI
Tune
Open exhaust

Pretty impressive IMO.

I am looking at entering in the October event. Shooting for 165 with bolt-on's.

I flew in from TN to pit crew my buddy's 09' Challenger R/T. I think it was the only Challenger that ran in the event. He had a goal of 180MPH but 175MPH was his best run. He's gonna look at gearing to see if it needs a change to get him there.

Running Magnacharger?

I saw 4 Challengers total over the weekend. I believe your friends was the fastest of the bunch.

Yep, Chrome Maggie blower on a forged 6.0L Arrington motor. Same blower and motor that's in mine. We don't have Mile events here in TN, so the harder he beats on his the better I feel about mine LOL.
