trickle charger
I bought a trickle charger for the camaro over the winter. I've never used one before. I've used battery chargers but that was always for short term. My question is for those of you that have them, do you hook it up in the engine compartment, or do you put it in the trunk. It also has an adapter to charge thru the "cigarette lighter" plug. What do you suggest.

I go into the trunk and run the wire through one of the drain plugs. You just pop out a grommet and there is access to the out side. This way I can have my trunk and hood closed and the cover on with out any wires ran under the cover.

I would say under hood is fine.
As long as it is grounded to the body pin under the hood and the jumper connection (direct wire to the trunk) It'll be fine. Or the trunk. The accessory outlet will not work as our car's outlets are off when the car is. |

I used a CTEC all last winter late December thru mid march and no problems. I used the jumper positive under the hood and the ground pin and all was well. Only issue was the time and date were off on the radio, but that has been discussed here before. I also use the charger if the car has been sitting for more than 4 days.

I was wondering the same thing about trickle charging - good info. Just curious, where is the 'grounding body pin' located exactly (i.e. is there one specific spot designed to provide a good ground). I usually just clip the charger to the nearest exposed bolt etc.
