In a way you were lucky.

I gave OnStar a unique email address.

In addition to the Monthly Diagnostic Reports, I get emails asking if I want to...
1. go to Best Buy and put OnStar in my non-GM vehicles...
2. buy Farmers Insurance because my yearly mileage is so low...
3. get the latest Camaro racing hats and mousepads, and other various solicitations sent to that unique email address.

If OnStar doesn't work when you go to sell/trade your car, a GM dealer can fix it in a jiffy and reestablish the link.
Don't let them take any money off for that. It's in the deal having GM a part-owner of OnStar.

I think their vendor cheaped out on the glue! When it gets hot the glue releases gases that are then trapped between the Pleather resulting in the bubbles. This is the problem with todays cars. Most of the parts are made by outside vendors so when it goes into production its quality is up to the vendor to maintain and not the car manufacturer. So if they can slip in a cheaper glue or bolt or whatever it takes to manufacture that part they will. So when the part fails GM, Ford, or what ever the make is has to figure out if it was a design flaw or manufacturing issue and did the supplier make the part like it was origanaly desinged.

I'm bubbling too!!!

After reading this post I immediately realized I had the same thing on my 2012. Having already recovered the grey plastic dash strip and door panels on my LS with leather, I knew this piece is replaceable having seen the screws. You DO NOT have to have the whole dash replaced. Do NOT let your dealer pull out yor entire dash. It will never be the same and you will develop rattles

I went to my dealer, he ordered me another leather insert panel. See photo below of screws under your strip above the leather to remove the leather panel. I'll replace it myself, i don't need the mechanics trying to be interior trim specialists. Cheers!

Someone else already has posted a DYI on replacing the insert. its more for removing the vent trim but you have to remove the insert to get to that.

If you are having this concern, the best thing to do is to get it addressed by a GM dealership. We treat every vehicle concern on a case by case basis.

In other words, no. The service bulletin that is out there has yet to change as there is still no fix currently. Having the dealer aware of your issue is probably the first thing to do so that your VIN is logged and remembered when(if) the fix does come out.

Been there done that, have had it replaced numerous times. This is getting rediculous.

Yah, dealership is more than aware. It's just crazy that it is taking this long.

I would like to look into this further for you.

Could you please send me your first and last name, address, phone number, VIN, mileage and involved dealership name?

I await your reply via PM.
