And you have an LS with 18s, why would you want to go any smaller. Wait are those 17s that come on that car? hmmmm
Either way like someone else said this is a contender.

The tire shop tried to tell me today if I went with a less wide tire in the front it would void the warrenty... just trying to find out if they are blowing smoke or not.

It would have to have the same or higher "speed rating".

Maybe smaller width tire than recommended for the rim would void the tire warranty; not the car warranty.

On tire you put on the car will void the car warranty for any reason. Low speed rating may be unsafe and would release GM from liability if you have an tire related accident but not the warranty.

I'm trying to get less foot pounds at the steering wheel by doing this = less rubber meeting the road.
Unless some one has built the after market power-steering upgrade kit.

Is this a personal reason or can you explain why this is important?

don't know about the V6, the the V8 power steering doesn't cut off quickly enough. At higher speeds, the thing feels very light and almost squirrely. Not crazy about the PS in this car ;(
