I did the same afterinstalling my rx breather but today i noticed some oil from the hose coming from the engine. I used some plastic plugs but i think some oil is still coming out. Just little though. So i removed the plug to check and i found oil there. Question. Is that normal??? If i used RTV to go around the edges of my plug, wouldnt oil then pile up in that hose??

My question is, why is there oil collecting on the fresh air side of the system?

Buddy of mine just got the Injen short ram system today and his intake tube to connect to that line is much better design. Does anyone know if the newer full length CAI from Injen has the same design or are they still the same as the ones discussed in this thread? If they updated them I wonder if Injen would be willing to do an exchange program since our version has some design flaws....

dunno - its worth an ask. It is very much a design flaw in the product.

I sealed mine up yesterday, haven't driven it enough yet to judge on how much of a difference it has made on mine.

I should give this a shot. I have a big tube of RTV for my Black Ice-olator install.

the oil is from the PCV system, which has tiny oil vapor particles floating around in it. as the crankcase vapors get pulled through that line, they condense and collect back into liquid oil. the inline Injen filter and the PCV filter that connects at the back of the crank case help facilitate the collection of oil as it cools the vapors and slows them down. there will always be oil there unlessl you plug off the back side and put a breather cap in. i believe adding another catch can is the proper way to resolve this. there are 2 PCV lines. one on the passenger side (the most common connection point for the catch can) which connects to the top of the IM, and the driver side that connects to the air intake (both driver and passenger side originate from the back side of the crankcase). each side should have a catch can which mitigates 98%(scientific statistical analysis percentage) of oil from the PCV system. you don't want to eliminate the PCV system as its critical for removing harsh deposits in the vapors that ruin the engine and/or shorten its life. hope this helps with the "where is the oil coming from?" question.
