I guess if you consider 11.5-11.8 at 123-129 MPH to be "all Ford has" then thats cool too. I guess if you consider "all Ford has" is a 200+ MPH, mid 11 second car, with 4 seats, a load of creature comforts, with a price tag of $55K, then yeah that's "all Ford has". It's a hell of a lot more than GM can offer.

it doesn't scare me nor make me upset. the gt500 will be CLOSE to the old z06. you can call it a drivers race if it makes you feel happy, but i say the edge still goes to the z06 even though it has 160 less hp.

I'll give to the Z06 as well, but it's still a drivers race. Most people are not competent enough to drive either of these cars, however.

The fact of the matter is the base model Z06 is still 20k more than the base model GT500. For them to be even competitive down the strip is a pretty big achievement for Ford. I mean we are talking about GM's halo car platform (notice I said platform and I'm not comparing it to the ZR1).

If by referring to the "old" Z06, then you must be implying the "new" Z06 as the Z06 with the performance package. Then no, the GT500 doesn't stand a chance. The Z06 w/PP is also $100K.

Hell if I ever hit the money, I'd be getting a Z06 with the PP. I'd send it straight to Late Model Racecraft and that would be all she wrote. It's an insanely good car.

However, when you look at bang for your buck performance, I don't think there's any doubt that the '13 GT500 is at the top of the list.

The dyno numbers coming out for the gt500 need to be properly accounted for by ditching traditional drivetrain loss calculations. The carbon fiber drive shaft will take less hp to spin and this will become a linear function as rpms climb higher.

It's safe to assume that 15% loss is over calculated. It's likely closer to 12.5% loss because of this. I'd guesstimate the 5.8 is slightly underrated and makes an honest 685 fly wheel hp on an engine dyno fully dressed with tail pipes and accessories.

That's factoring 610whp which some have gotten while others got 601, and 613.

The interesting thing is that current Z06 owners are selling their cars for the boss 302 that makes 60 less hp than the z06. Wonder why that is?

I love mine. It's a hell of a lot more car than a Camaro. In content and price. Mustang has stayed the course, Camaro is still a new car, fresh from the grave.

Money....even with 10k down it will have the payments of a small house. GT500 w/ Recaro's 56k + ttl 6k ~ 62k otd - 10k down ~ 52k financed @ 6% for 6 years is 862 a month.

Life gets in the way.:(

What's interesting in the MT test is that they were both run, same day, same track, same weather, etc, etc. Very much unlike hero runs by Evan Smith. If you read the Evan Smith article, he struggled hard and had to come back another day to get the GT500 at 12.00.

How do you explain Smith hitting 11.95 @ 120 with the 2010 GT500 that weighs 100lbs more than the 11/12 GT500?
