TCS/StabiliTrac off same lights as competitive mode

New member here, picked up my car Dec 17th and just turned 2800 miles today.
I did a search, but everything I read contradicted what my car does.
2013 2SS M6 (Dusk Edition with the 21" wheels if it matters)
When I hit the tcs button once, I get the TCS off light.
When I hit it twice, I get the traction control off light and StabiliTrac off light and DIC says StabiliTrac competitive mode.
When I hold the button for @5-7 seconds, both the TCS and StabiliTrac lights come on but DIC doesn't say Competitive mode.

So, is holding it for 7sec actually defeating everything? And since 2 taps is bringing both lights on, does that mean I'm not in launch control mode?

Can anyone shed light on this for me?
Thanks.

1 tap shuts off traction, but leaves stability on. 2 quick taps turns on competitive mode with launch control. However, the TC and SC lights will be in the off position. If you hold it, it will defeat everything.

So the lights both stay on in competitive and fully defeated?

Yes. Although I believe that stability control is still technically on, since that is the point of competitive mode. I'm sure some more people can chime in on what competitive actually does (besides launch control).

This is my conundrum. I'm trying to find out how to totally defeat the system.
In addition, I'd like to ensure launch control is gonna work before I try anything too harsh on these $650 each rear tires.

Well, played with it in Competiton Mode on the way home, and it acted like it was all disabled. Definitely no launch assist that I could discern. (I didn't let it get sideways, so the system may have intervened at some point past where I put it)
Fish tailed back and forth (easily controlled by throttle modulation) but mostly sat still until I came waaaaay off it and let it hook. On 1-2 shift, gave about 3/4 throttle and was fish tailing again.

Could there be new settings for the '13?

Did you follow the proper launch control steps?

1. Enable comp mode
2. Press clutch fully. Press accelerator fully. Rpm'sshould hold at around 4k (I may be wrong rpm)
3. Do not dump the clutch, rather release the pedal aggressively.

The car should power away with no bog and slight wheelspin.

I did not floor it. I was at about 2500
I'll give that a shot on the on ramp in about 30 min

To completely defeat the system just hold the button for 5-7 seconds until the off lights come on. That shuts EVERYTHING off. No LC, no SC, no TC.

It holds the RPMs about 5500. I let off it before I took off really well because there was a lot of wheel hop from the right tire. I could tell the computer was intervening some, so apparently Launch Control is still there.
Do y'all normally get lots of wheel hop, or is it the 21s you think?

My confusion was that the off lights are on in Competitive Mode too, when I read in several sources that the StabiliTrac off light didn't come on in competitive mode

In my 2012 both lights shut off just like you describe. I'll check the manual in a bit.

They don't shut off. They are on
