Based on this white is your color. Yes, waxing/detailing, but with black you have to do it right or you could get swirl marks - just harder to keep in great shape.

I gotta tell you, I have had black cars, and even 1 crew cab dually that I thought I would keep forever, but the HIGH maintanance to keep that huge thing clean was a royal PITA!! Since then, I have bought a white 06 Duramax, white 06 Suburban (for the wife), and now a white 2012 Chevy Cruze for the wife to replace the gas guzzling Suburban. White is SO easy to keep clean, looks great when waxed, MUCH cooler in the summer months, hides imperfections in the paint and small dents (yes, they do happen) in the body, wont fade like black will over time, wont scratch as easy as black, and if it does, it wont show like it will with black paint. Dont get me wrong, a black car looks the best right after its washed and waxed! But as soon as you drive it, even just down the block and back, it needs to be washed again!!
If you plan of driving it a LOT, get white. If you plan on letting it sit in the garage, get black. But I did go with Silver Ice Metallic with the ZL1, and it looks bad ass as well. It is still a light color, so it will have the same characteristics as white. Hope this helps |

Black is the BEST color if the paint is perfect and freshly washed. However, black requires the most maintenance to keep it looking good.
White is not as impressive as black when clean but it still looks good. It is also easier to maintain because it hides dust/dirt/swirl marks/imperfections. If you don't want to maintain your paint constantly, get white.

chloew920, glad to hear you are reasonable. Mine's black. It looks good for about six hours after it's been washed, then you start to notice dust on it at lower angles and it just gets worse.
My white Montero sits outside for months at a time and just looks...white. John B.

Maintenence is frequent and difficult.
I have to go over my car after i wash and chamois it with detail spray and a microfiber because of water spots. Then i go over it every couple nights with detail spray between washes to keep it looking nice. Walking out of a store to a waxed and shiny black camaro can't be beat. My last two cars were black. All you're doing is giving up tv time to create smiles later. Totally worth it.
