New Member Coming From a C5 Vette Saying Hello
Hello -
Since I've been lurking here since the end of August, I figured it was time to stop in to say hello, and introduce myself to the forum. My name is Joe, I'm 40, married with two kids and reside in Southern New Jersey. I'm coming from a 1999 C5 Vette in Black (Cammed, M6, 4.10 gears, etc. etc. etc) which I owned for two years and did nothing but mod, work on and consistently detail (she was Black). I'm sure a lot of people usually go the other way, but after thousands and thousands of dollars and issues after cracking open the engine, I started to have nothing but problems. I've spent close to 3K in tunes alone trying to get her right. If you're thinking of doing a Cam, PLEASE do your due-diligence first! DO NOT go too big or you will lose all bottom end power! Once you crack her open, all bets are off. Be ready to drop some big coin! Ok... Sorry for the rant... The other issue with the Vette is having two kids was a real PITA to try and give each one a ride. I started to feel like a ride operator and felt bad that the wife never got a chance to share the experience. In the two years I owned the Vette she only was only in her twice. With that said, I started looking for a Camaro with the thoughts that I could fit the whole family, it's fairly powerful stock and I won't have to do any mods. Ahhh, yeahhh OK..., at least this is what I told my wife to sell her on the idea. As she knew I never wanted to get rid of the Vette this idea took a lot on convincing. After a short hunt I came across a 2010 2SS/RS IOM (L99) with only 4100 miles, completely stock and in excellent condition. I went with an Auto this time with the thought that the wife could drive home in the event I consume too many frothy beverages. Yes I know I'm losing HP with the L99, and rowing through the gears in the Vette was awesome, but to me started to get old at times. At least she can drive this one if need be. I've owned the Camaro since the end of August and of course hanging on this forum has already cost me several thousand dollars. "Mod bug bites again"... (Except this time I think I'll stay away from the "internal" engine mods.) Ok, this is what I have done so far: (In the order purchased) - GM Performance Track Pack Axel back Exhaust - "SS" Polished Speaker Rings - Cold Air Inductions CAI - X3 Powerflash Tuner (w/ Jannetty Racing Tune ) - Lloyd's SS Ultimat's - Hurst Comp Auto Shifter (in Black Delrin) - GM Locking Lug Nuts - Coverking Satin-Stretch Car Cover - Sparks Restorations Front & Rear SS Emblems - 6.2L Chrome Hood Emblems - GM Color Matched Splash Guards - GM Heritage Grille (Inferno Orange) - Billet Pedals (Sullivan Racing Products) - Elite Engineering Catch Can - VMAX Ported Throttle Body - Billet Shock Tower Covers - SLP Front Chin Spoiler - Apex Cold Air Intake Scoop & Washer Relocator Kit (Ariving today) On the radar: - GM Interior Trim Kit in IOM Ok now for the pics, as she's hibernating in the garage under her sexy satin stretch cover, I'm sorry to say I have no recent images of the mods, but will show a couple as she looked when purchased. Without further a due... From this: To this: (Without the Heritage Grille and SLP Chin Spoiler. Man whatta difference they make!) Well that's all for now. Sorry for being so long winded. I've learned a ton off this forum and look forward to learing more. Thanks everyone! AS Ali G always said.... Last edited by JM20; 01-10-2013 at 03:16 PM. Reason: Fixed Font Size |

Nice Cars! Welcome to the forum!
You should get the mods to move this thread to the "Member Car Journals" part of the forum so you can keep it and add pictures and update as you do more mods, etc. |

JM20, CONGRATS on the ride and Welcome to our happy little corner of the net, and to Camaro5. There is a BIG fridge on the back porch with anything you can think of in it...help yourself...of course only take what you can LEGALLY have. Make yourself at home on one of the big fluffy couches, kick your shoes off, put your feet up on one of the tables, yes we are allowed to do that, mom's, dad's, wive's, husband's, girlfriend's and boyfriend's here don't care....and take it easy.
oh...btw....every once in a while a food fight breaks out...so you may not want to wear nice clothes here. Welcome!!

Welcome! Nice ride, I love the C5 too. My father in law has a 98. I went down the same road as you, but with my old 4th gen Z28. I couldn't be happier with my L99 SS.

Congrats, coming from a previous vette guy(before kids) it was a great move for me to allow a bit more space for the family to enjoy together. Enjoy with the kids, something they will always remember.
