Who does this?!

A local dealership in my town has a ZL1 sitting outside covered in snow & ice with a big drift up against the passenger door.. I stop by to look and the rotors are starting to rust. C'mon man.

Rotors can shows signs of rust in a matter of hours after exposure to moisture... the surface rust will come off, though, as soon as the car is driven. Generally, when you stop somewhere, the rotors are hot enough that any moisture will evaporate before settling on the rotors, but a car that's been parked for a while, and precipitation makes its way onto the rotors, will display some surface rust. Cars are outdoor toys, made to get wet and stay out all night.

First, any car that sits for a few days will have surface rust on the rotors. That's pretty normal. Second... Dude is just a car. A machine made of metal. Let's not keep treating these cars like a living entity.

Yeah it sucks, but it happens all the time. I parked mine in the garage after washing her and then the next day I went to back out of the garage and as I let the clutch out I could feel it struggling like somebody had stuck a chock/2X4 or something behind the wheels. Then with this big loud BANG it broke free. That darn rust really grips! But as soon as you use the brakes they're all shiny and new looking again.

Not a slight patina of rust, like actually getting rusty as if it's been outside since it was built. On a lot full of 14,000$-20,000$ cars, I would think they would pull the 50K car inside and keep its value up. I wouldn't buy it.

Here's the thing, the dealer does NOT CARE about snow or rain. Half there lot with full sized pick-ups, and vettes are worth just as much and more than a ZL1. They will wash that car, and someone will buy it not knowing anything, just the way it is.

+1

Should the buyer carry the car around so it does not get dirty since it's a ZL1?

My father in law is a farmer and drives a full ton Silverado worth a LOT more than that ZL1...

I think you need to get a hold of yourself. Not buying a car because it's been outside?! Oh the horror!

The guy who test drove your car at the factory probably farted in it...shouldn't you return it today?
