AC and recirculation has a mind of its own?

2010 2SS 42K

Ive noticed lately without the AC on, blower turned off, and recirculation on to keep fresh air out, the controls are taking on a mind of their own. What i mean is the light for the recirculation is on. Then i can feel air coming out of the vents and have noticed on multiple occasions the recirculation light going off and on. In addition, at times the AC and recirculation blink off and on simultaneously and the air condition kicks off and on with cool air coming out of the vents. All this happens on its own.
I can turn the system on, then off and it will stop but will at times, start doing it again. I cannot keep recirculation on. Even if the light is on, many times it still has outside air blowing out the vents.

I plan to try to capture it on video the next time and i will post it up for reference as well.

anyone else?? Ideas or suggestions are welcomed!

I have a 2014 2LS. Whenever I turn on the fan, the a/c comes on too, it's driving me crazy. I am taking it to the dealer in a few days to see if something is wrong.

My car was at the dealership service center for an entire week. During this time they were in contact with GM while attempting to resolve the issue. The following tasks were performed:
1) update computer software
2) replace HVAC controller module/unit
3) replace climate control / radio faceplate

None of these were able to solve the problem. GM feels this may be a design feature. They are doing additional research to determine if the software is designed to make the a/c come on automatically the first time the fan is used after starting the car, but then not come on again automatically for several hours. I hope that regardless of what they determine, they should at least offer a voluntary computer update to disable this feature. I will provide an update here when/if I learn anything more.

Nothing yet. GM is sending a field engineer to look at the car on Oct 28.

The field engineer was not able to determine the cause or find a way to fix it. He doesn't know why it is happening but he doesn't think it should happen. He took lots of data from the computer and will send it to GM Engineering for analysis. It is interesting to note that the engineer determined that if this fan is turned on before starting the car then the a/c will not come on unless the a/c button is pressed. This is very interesting. It's not a solution but it's a work-around I can live with.

I just bought a 2014 RS and I have the same issue. Driving my crazy. I turn the AC off and the recirculate off but then the next I start my car and turn on the fan the AC comes on with light and Recirculate comes on with light off. I turn the AC off and Recirculate button twice one to turn it on though it's on already and once to turn it off. This happens every morning when I start and leave. It's November. I don't need AC. I believe when I turn AC off and Recirculate off that neither should come back on again until I turn them on.

On another note.. When I turn the AC off (light out) I still hear the ac compressor running and it is not in defrost mode. I as well will discuss with the dealer.

mcw0407, if you leave the fan in the "on" position, any speed, then the a/c won't come on automatically. I always put the fan on speed setting #1 before shutting off the engine.

So glad to know I am not the only one with this issue. I just got my new 14 less than a week ago, and last night was the first night it was real cold, that I had the heat on.
Anyways I had the temp dial turned all the way to the red dot/heat, and the fan at max. I look down a second later and the AC button is lit up. Also don't understand on the screen, it says recirculation is on auto, but pushing the button overrides it.
