The correct offset?

What is the correct offset for a aftermarket Rim? I want them to be flush with the fender wheels (like a ZL1 is). I have a one inch drop and I want to run my factory rubber.

The ZL1 actually has the tires sticking out a bit , well , more like 3/8 , if you put a strait edge from bottom through the center at top of the wheel

Offset means nothing without width. For example a 20x11 with a 48mm offset will sit exactly as flush as 20x8 with a 10mm offset.

You stock offset is 40mm so subtract from that the gain you want out of the wheel well and there is your offset. 0 would be center of the rim 25.4 mm is 1 inch. The above is out 17mm farther and in 23mm more for a tire that is 40mm wider overall.

No ,a while back I saw one and took a look at it , and there it was in all it's splendor , but yes , if you stick a strait edge , you will see what I am talking about .

I suppose some people look at the BOTTOM half of the wheel from the rear and think "hey that really sticks out!" But in actuality you need to look at the top center outside fender to detemine if its flush. Stock wheel is not flush, it is sunken in a little.
