I'm not sure exactly what some of you are expecting. I could be wrong, but I doubt that more than 10% of the people on this board (and maybe 1% of the Camaro buyers) could actually wring all the potential performance out of a V6, let alone a V8. A couple of you may try a track day. Stop light races are just a fast way to higher insurance, they don't really prove a thing.

This car is a GT car, not a true sports car or really even a muscle car. It's designed to be able to be sporty and fun in a wide variety of conditions and still be liveable on a road trip (edit or as a daily driver). Unlike a Corvette (at least the z06 and up models) which ARE designed to do track work. I'd argue that a Cobalt is designed for track days as well at least at the SCCA and autocross level because the guy who set up the suspension is a several time winner of that kind of racing. The Z28 may be as well (which traditionally is what that moniker meant). In the meantime, don't get too wrung out over these details.

300hp and a not so aerodynamic body with a tall ride height... 140-150.

Top speed will be governed at 155 mph. This has already been officially stated.

Ok... I'll go easy on the V6 Camaro. I just don't think it's going to be as fast as we're hoping... Not saying it'll be slow by any means, but just judging off of what I know, but by factoring the weight of the Camaro, and the torque that it's making I just don't see it being quicker than 5.7 & 14.1 that's all. It's power to weight ratio in comparison to other similar vehicles support this... But hey I'm hoping to be proven wrong. And If I am, here's a deal Dragoneye, when the V6 Camaro comes out and if it is quicker than what I've predicted make a post that I was wrong, and I'll to Dragoneye...

The thing is I don't see how it could be any faster then what you have predicted above without bosting the output of the engine. If they are keeping it to 304 HP then that means they aren't tweaking parts or the tune (which would both change the output of HP and TQ).

Since the tranny is what it is and they released the ratios and final drive rear end then they aren't tweaking those either. So I don't see where they are going to get more performance from when we already know what the CTS does with "basically" the same setup. since the CTS goes 6.1-6.3 depending on what you read, I can't see this car going faster then 5.7 with the hardest launch possible with the same output. It isn't that much lighter to get those kinda gains.

That said 5.7 would be a pretty quick car but again GM would'nt want to make it any faster then around 5.9 for marketing reasons. They are not going to make a 5.1 5.3 car when the SS will be like 4.6. They need to keep them far enough apart so there is a market for both

No, no, I agree with your predictions! I'm just busting your chops. In my head I read it like a little kid movie...

"The Camaro can't get up to 155" *person one says proudly*
"It can, and has" *person two says with a raised eyebrow*
"yeah well...it'll take forever to do it..." *person one scuffs feet*

Agreed...might as well drop the LS/LT, and make two more SS models if it was that quick....

The three of us are all on the same page here. I was just saying @ the quickest possible stock. I don't think that the 5th Camaro V6 will be quicker than 5.7 & 14.1/2. With just going off of C&D and a few other magazines saying they were indeed able to achieve 5.8 in the RWD V6 CTS... So giving .1 of a second slower/faster is why I'm saying 5.7 seeing that the Camaro V6 is just slightly lighter vs the CTS...

Realistically I think the Camaro V6 will be doing it in 6.1-5.8 & the 1/4 in 14.5-14.2 somewhere in that range...

Yeah, we're all on the same page obviously we want the V6 Camaro to be as quick as possible but thinking it'll do 0-60 @ or under 5.7 is pretty wishful thinking...
