Annoying A6 shifter rattle?
Is anyone else getting an annoying rattle in the cover that surrounds the A6 shifter handle? If I hold the shift handle firmly, or press down on the cover plate, it stops. It just started on my 2SS. 2,000 miles. Seems to be worst at city cruising speeds, between 45 and 50 MPH. Loud enough to be annoying. Wondering if it's something that will be under warranty. No mods at all to the car.

haven't noticed it yet...but i'm only at 960 miles.

I'd say take it to the dealer, they are normally good about rattles with new cars ...

+18,000 miles and no rattle. Take it to the dealer and get them to fix it.

I've often thought about pouring a cup full of quakerstate down the gap to shut it up. I smack it all the time. Drives me ape sh*t. I have always assumed it would wear away at the friction area but after 17,000 miles it's still there. I'm still slowly learning to ignore it.

I have a rattle in that area (7500Mi). When I am in "S", it is loud enough to drive me crazy. I have shifted to "D" and it quits. Going back Wed. and see if they can figure out what's causing the problem.
Anybody found a solution, (and don't say keep in "D") Andy

pry off/remove the shifter console cover (10 seconds to do), apply dielyctic (sp?) grease on the contact edges all the way around. Reinstall the cover. It is a 5 minute job.
