2002 SS Purchase

Hi guys,
I am looking to purchase this vehicle. Anything to look out for? Does anyone here know if this is a Camaro Forum Car? Anyone familiar with this shop. Seems like a good car and clean car fax but I am always apprehensive with second cars. Any input will be appreciated gents. Have a great evening guys, and thank you in advance.

Looks like a nice ride. If it was well taken care of, it will be obvious. with that few miles, it should be essentially perfect. get whatever documentation you can, and make sure it all makes sense and nothing is fishy with the miles, condition, or history. I'd drive it!

You might want to look at this very nice 4th Gen a little more expensive but well worth the price for a pretty much bone stock SS only performance mod is GMMG chambered exhaust.

Well guys, car looked good. Unfortunately it did have bubbling on the roof. Looked like hard sap at first. The shop manager couldn't figure it out until I read a forum members feedback on the matter. Delamination. Thanks guys for the input.
Much Appreciated,
Omar

That delamination is a known problem on all 99-02 cars. 98 cars didnt have that problem. Wouldnt be a deal breaker for me. There is a TSB to fix it and any body shop should be able to fix it

Its going to be hard IMO to find a perfect 4th gen on the resale market. 4th gens (especially slp finished SS cars) were not perfect even when new, and unfortunately the bubbled clearcoat roof on these cars were very common. Not all of them bubbled, but quite a few did. You could use this as a bargaining tool if your efforts to find a super mint example prove to be difficult. The problem of the bubbling was from the adhesive that was used to glue the roof to the car. The excess glue seeped through the surface, and cars exposed to the sun got the worst of it. The problem was known to re-surface even with repainting the roof (of course this was a reflection of the quality of the body and paint repair people used to fix this).

Good luck.

Last 2 posters are correct, the bubbling is a common issue. The glue used to attach the sail panel eventually comes through. Also unfortunate is the fact no one will honor the TSB and replace the sail panel. The parts have been long Dced. Don't let it stop you if it's a nice car, because even if it's not bubbling now it could at any point. A few of us are lucky but who knows how long it'll last.

You have to go pre 99 to avoid this problem. Good luck with your search.

Im, going to go and talk to them about dropping the price. It is a no haggle dealership. How does one fix this issue.

Everything's negotiable. Tell them that the issue is unacceptable for the price and see where it goes.

My 1996 Z28SS w less than 19k org miles, which is currently FOR SALE on this site, has no issues w it's paint and clear coat. And it's still FOR SALE out of Maryland. All offers considered over $16,000. It's also listed locally out of Baltimore and Washington DC's Craigslist if you wanna look at some pics. Plus mine is ALOT more limited and collectible than the muti-produced 2000-2002s
