Are you doing it just for the shift light? Or other reasons...?

It's only 3 3/8" dia. and since I can't see the factory gauge, I would like to mount one of these somewhere so I can actually see what my rpm's are. And yes the light will help.

any other options?

steering wheel is in the way, if I raise it to see the tach, it's just way uncomfortable.

To each his own I guess. I like the clean look of the factory dash, but if ur gonna run this car weekly on the track a Tack in higher view would help. 2 hands on the wheel in the 1/4 mile would be useful.

Try to find something that will stick to your dash temporarily (suction cup?) and mount it there. I would not to a physical mod, unless I could care less about the resale value.

Not sure if you know or not but the steering wheel telescopes so that may help you out. I'm 6'3" and I was able to adjust it so I can see everything and it's comfortable so I hope this helps.

I agree, Although I have seen people that are just comfortable in weird positions, I would work on your seat position and telescope the wheel a bit more to get around having to install a tach.

I'm sure you've probably done this already, but I just imagine there has to be a way to get it to work.

You shouldn't need to look at the tach after a few days of driving... Now on the other hand if you were doing this soley for the purpose of the shift light, I would just buy the shift light and mount it behind one of the A/C vents... Very popular in the 4th gens.

I like the suction cup idea

But i will try re-adjusting the seat and wheel and see if i can get a good combination.
