There's more than horsepower numbers. Transmission on those cars is godly.
Word, I've driven an M3 with a Dual Clutch Transmission and it's no wonder supercars are trading in conventional manual trannys for them.

Yep, they intentionally gear the DSG short in those cars to improve acceleration (even though there are 7 gears on the 135, there is no gear that's equivalent to the 6th gear on the manual version of the same car, the DSG is just geared that way, more for "fun"), then combined with how they seemlessly change gears, they accelerate faster with less HP. They won't reach as high a top-speed and the camaro would "eventually" pass it, but this is after 1/4th of a mile.

I'm not sure if you are still talking about the M5 or switched gears to a 135 but just so everyone knows, M5's have been 200mph+ car's for a while now.

x2. Old E60 has hit 200mph with only the 155mph electronic governor removed. I suspect the F10 will do the same looking at the fact it's got 1. more power 2. better aerodynamic

im going to go with the ZL1 for the 1/4 b/c of the better power to weight ratio and a very nice suspension

probably a tie for a drag race or slight edge to the ZL1, and the ZL1 should take the cake for the road race. Its already faster in the ring right now.

But secondly and importantly, not the same category or demographic is being targeted by the two cars. That being said, you can't directly compete the two as they value different aspects that they consider "important" and therefor a positive compromise in different directions (IE luxury is not a ZL1 top priority).

On performance ZL1 all the way. On creature comforts M5 would win. At least I would hope so for the price.

M5 is 7.76 pounds per HP
ZL1 7.10 Pouds per HP

M5 On Nurenburg did 7.55
ZL1 on nurenburg did 7.41

It's a 14 second difference on a 13 mile track. They very well could run the same time with the same driver, on the same day, under the same conditions.
