If you find anyone with really good rates, post here! My sister is in the same situation (19 years old, getting her first car), and we've been having very little luck finding a decent rate.

This is why teh insureance companies are essentially legalized highway robbers. Sorry guys. That's not targetted at individuals but the companies and the indsutry as a whole. Ever sicne no-fault came along all of us have to pay for all the bad apples no matter how good our records are. And when someone fits the generic profile of a "higher risk" driver (e.g. less than 25 years old for one example) they still jack the rates sky-high.

I have also heard about this issue where they say that all licensed drivers living in the household must be on the policy. I have a very serious objection to this especially with kids. When i was growing up i got my lic. and had to pay my own insurance. Had nothing to do with the parent's cars or insurance. What if you have someone boarding in your house (say a family friend). Do they need to be on the policy? Rediculous.

You should have the choice to exclude someone in your house from your policy if you choose to. If they get caught driving that vehicle then there's one answer. The company comes after you for allowing that person to drive the vehicle. You in turn could go after that person.

This is much the same as the STUPIDITY of having to pay collision etc. separately on all vehicles all the time. Fire/theft/comprehensive I can see. But collision!?!? My Dad had 4 vehicles but is single. He's the only person living in his house period! So someone explain to me how he is supposed to drive (and get into an accident with) more than one vehicle at once!!??

Hope you're able to get your insurance issue sorted out Mike.
