Allstate tried to jack me

So I added my 2012 Camaro SS a few weeks ago. I got my first bill today and holy crap they jacked up my rate more than $700.00 every 6 months over $1400.00 for the year!!!!

I've been insured with them for 16 years mind you, so I call them up to see if was a mistake, well it wasn't.

I called Geico and they insured both my car and my wife's car with the exact same coverages I had with Allstate for only $1149.30 ever 6 months for full coverage and high limits.

Conversely Allstate wanted $2076.72 for every 6 months. That comes to a difference of $1854.84 less for the year.

I have to say, screw you Allstate!!!! After 16 years of paying them they just wanted to rip me off.

Sorry to hear that. I also have Geico. My rate went up about $30 every 6 months, but my last car was 10 years old and slow... No accidents or tickets on record. So that probably helps...

I had an 03 CTS before the Camaro. I would have been ok with a slight increase, but $927.42 every 6 months more????

It was so crazy I was sure it was a mistake so I called them it. It wasn't.

Geico was nearly half the price for exactly the same limits. So I have to say that after being a loyal Allstate customer for 16 years I am not happy.

Geico is $2298.60 for the year, but that's for a 08 pathfinder and my 2012 Camaro. Allstate wanted $4153.44 for the year.

I had a great rate with Allstate before changing the car from the 03 CTS to the Camaro. They increased it massively after I made the change. The price increase was more than $700.00 every six months.

I'm now paying less than what I was paying Allstate when I had the Pathfinder and the CTS.

Very strange. I also went from a Cadillac CTS (07) to my SS. My allstate insurance only went up $6 a month. I was very happy with that.

I dont have any tickets or accidents on my record and have had allstate for only about 2 years now. I do have both my car, wifes car and my home and Harley on them as well however.

Glad you at least found a cheaper option...

Very strange is right. I figured it was only going to go up a little bit, but no, it was a massive increase. I honestly thought it was a mistake it was such a drastic change.

I guess that's what I get for being insured with them for 16 years. Nothing like being crapped on after being a loyal customer. Screw them.

Wow. That's almost as much as mine, but mine is high for a reason - speeding tickets from before I had the Camaro. I had a G8.

No insurance company cares more than three years back. You may have a personal relationship with an agent that matters, but the company could not care less.

I pay around $1k - $1,200 per year . . . I forgot the exact breakdown since I have 2 cars on that policy.

I'm 26 and my previous vehicle (2005 Mazda 3i) was only $521 a year for full coverage. I quoted my soon to be Camaro and it was a little over $800 a year. This is with Liberty Mutual.
