L99 resonator design.

Well I recently cut off my resonator because I have been told that it is restrictive . All I can say is it is a straight through design and not restrictive at all . Here are some pictures I took .

Yep. JRE told me to keep mine. Was upgrading to headers after I had Borla S Axle back installed. Best advice as I read so many people want to quite down their rides after going with X pipes.

Ahhhhh!!!! Thank you!!!! I have seen this one other time and never thought I would see it again. I knew the pipes were gapped and they didn't have any sound proofing material inside the L99 resonator. Thanks for posting. I had a short discussion with Magnaflow Tech support about what was inside it when deciding on which resonated X-pipe to order.

And I guess I have to admit, after the header install I want to knock down the higher RPM sound just a hair and refine it.

I have Doug Thorley Short tubes, solo HFC, along with a solo axle back with the stock resonator, and it was very throaty and would experience alot of vibration on high RPM especially on a downshift when using the paddles

Put on a solo catback which is essentially the same thing except with a resonated X pipe, and it is night and day how much smoother the car feels and sounds. It is a bit quieter at idle though

I honestly wish I would of kept mine. I had the issue some people of had with them where the internals came apart and would rattle at certain RPMS. With no warranty it had to go.

The biggest problem with the stock setup is in the picture for me
The pipes aren't connected and it creates heat in the car next to my foot if I drive for a long time

That's what mods are for so magnaflow X for me
For others it works so keep it

There is very little restriction if any with the stock cat back. Dyno numbers have proven that. Only worth changing for sound, weight reduction or FI applications.
