But I hear they are offering some good discounts on them. Once the Camaros are in dealerships, I'll bet they offer even more discounts.

I wonder how the G8 and the Camaro are related

Actually the Camaro is on and updated and revised version of the G8's platform. Charger and challenger same exact platform. So not exactly the same

Nothing wrong with saving money by the car manufacturer- but the Camaro is a small pony car now just like it was in 1967 when it was introduced. I saw a highly optioned 6-speed G-8 at my dealer last week when I took my 02 Firebird in for an oil change. Not worth the price in the mid 40's in my opinion.

Problem is that the Camaro is just more bang for the buck; better performance, better mileage, lower price. Equally atttractive. But I do prefer the guage cluster in the Dodge (got some heat for saying that on another thread).

Not really, it uses the LC platform, revised like the zeta, but still heavy as a brick

But hey, can you say 5 star crash rating all around

I love this. Things are going to be getting really interesting here soon when we can finally get some reviews and shootouts! This is a great time in auto' history for me, since I wasn't lucky enough to be around in the 60's.

I think if I were Chrysler, I'd create a new Challenger model slotted in between the R/T and the SRT8 that has the 6.1 engine and the Brembos but fewer bells & whistles like leather interior, connectivity, 13-speaker stereo, 20" forged wheels, etc.

Basically they would have an SRT8 F package and an SRT8 J package just like the R/T has. If they could get the SRT8 F package MSRP down to $35-36k before sales/gas guzzler tax, tags, etc. it could be competitive with the Camaro & Mustang GT.
