Glad to hear it can be resolved. Mine were not under hard acceleration either, just trying to get used to the Hurst and practicing on the quick shifts.

Well, I took mine in today with 550 miles on it and went for a ride with the Service Manager. He seemed like a nice guy and was quick to get in the car with me to see what the problem was. At first I couldn't get it to grind second but he did notice I was having to almost force it into second gear. (Force it may not be the correct description but extra effort was needed.) On the way back to the dealer I was able to get it to duplicate the grind and actually wasnt able to get into second this time. It has only done that to me once before, It usually grinds but still goes into second gear. I asked him if he wanted to drive it to see what he thought, he said it was obvious something wasnt right. I am dropping it off with them next Monday so they can investigate, he said he did some digging and knew of a few issues that may cause this. I'll let you know what they find.

Mines is a 2011 ss bought it last week. it had 200 miles when i drove it off the lot. it had 300 miles when i took it in for service. the car grinded 2nd gear since day one.
slow acceleration at 3500 rpm shift to 2nd grind. when its not fully warmed up. under hard acceleration 6000 rpm grinds every time. dealer giving me crap saying to read the owners manual and i'm not driving it right. also let every service guy drive my car. they smoked in it filled it with mud. put over 50 miles on it. i replicated the problem about 6 times with 6 different people. they replicate it every time they drive it. getting the transmission replaced finally but they said if the problem persist i'am on my own, i'am tired of dealerships i hate service managers. i've bought 8 cars from this dealer in the last 2 1/2 years i'am pissed, he told me the transmission he ordered had a different order number or serial number cause he believes it has updated parts. so hopefully its fixed. i've owned a camaro for a week and drove it for one day hate it already. |

So does anyone know if there is an updated transmission? or are the ones having them replaced just getting lucky and not having the same issues. I am a little concerned that even if the trans is replaced that the new trans would have the same issue.
Oh, and just for clarifiacation I dont care if the trans is fixed or replaced just as long as the problem is fixed. I am Just curious if there is an updated transmission available. If there is I would think that would show GM knows there is a problem.

The replacement transmissions should have the upgraded carbon blocking rings. If for some reason it doesn't, you'll probably have the same problem. Kind of a crap shoot...

Well, just an update on mine. I am getting a brand new transmission from GM. Hope the new one doesnt have the same issues and hope it doesnt take too long to get one in. I was told the 2nd gear syncros were jacked up and something was bent.(Shift fork maybe?) I'll find out for sure next week. Gotta say my dealer really did a great job taking care of this. Cant wait to get it back so I can put some miles on it.

Took mine to the dealer a while back and this is what I got. Under a 1000 miles at the time. I just got back from the fest in AZ.,4047 miles on it. While coming back we could drive 200 miles stop to eat and grind 1-2 getting back on the interstate,, trans warm. I'm taking it back to the dealer soon have an apointment for monday, but i just washed and waxed it, going to storm here every day for the next week. Within the next 2 weeks for sure, I'm in no hurry its done it from the frist time I tryed to hit 2nd. hard. Oh I have the hurst in it. To say the least I'm pissed off at chevrolet not my dealer for Knowing they have a problem and not having a fix out for it ,and sending that info to there dealers. Not some BS about a warm trans, this is a new $40.000.00 SS Camaro and you can't hit 2nd. hard they sould have told me that up front before they took my cash..
