HID lights in Texas question
Hey guys and gals. I'm new to the forum. Ive been lingering around without an account for a couple months now. Figured it would save me some money. I'm moving to Texas in 3 weeks and want to buy a set of eagle eyes with HID's. They have yearly inspections down there and wondered if anybody knew if these would cause a problem passing an inspection. Thanks in advance

Can't see why it would be a problem. I think you'll be fine.

Awesome. I was nervous because i live in Kentucky and we don't have inspections. I was hoping as long as I had them in a projector housing they would be fine. Thanks again

I used to have a 280z with hids and had to learn this first hand, Texas's issue is if you put hids in stock reflective housings because it basically blinds any oncoming traffic at your level, and even with that being said many many people still use hids in this manor and have no problems with passing inspection at all, but my understanding is angel eyes are a projector housing so you should not have any issues at all.

They just inspect to see if they work from what I saw when they did my wife's car.

A cop CAN give you crap about having them in reflective lenses... I had mine In oem lenses for almost two years and was stopped once strictly for it and another time the cop mentioned that it was illegal while being pulled over for speeding, but I also had 1000k lights (basically straight blue) so I stood out.. Allot

You'll pass as long as you dont lose the high beam function...i think...i had a set in one of my old cars when i was younger and it didnt pass because i didnt have high beams...thats all they said to me...
Ive never had a problem here running hids in projector housing or regular housing headlights...and ive had every temp/color...lol |

Yea my understanding is as long as your not blinding an oncoming cop your in good shape, I also had my headlights leveled a little high for a while so I was (not intentionally and not to my knowledge at the time) blinding allot of people. After lowering the leveler on my headlights I never had a problem.

I have HID's without projector head lights and they are fine. And so far no flashes or pull-overs. I've never jacked with the leveler either.
Side note: get ready to put a front bumper license plate mount on your baby. Welcome to Texas. Last edited by 6bangerBOOM; 07-31-2013 at 06:45 AM. |

They're close enough to stock RS headlights to the untrained eye, you'll be ok.
