First impressions of a potential buyer

Went down to see a Camaro first hand today.

1. Sweet looks.
Seriously - it is pretty bad ass.

2. Getting in the car.
Coming from a Jeep - it's a "stoop" but typical and expected.

3. Closing the door.
It's quiet. Very "pod-like". Like a comfortable space machine. Very very cool.

4. Vision.
It's a sports car. Rear and side vision - it's not like an AMC Pacer at all - important to "know where you are". Not a big problem for me.

5. Needs to be hacked.
Really needs a "car pc" - user-custom cameras out the back for some type of HUD - some sort of Linux/Android OS system - maybe tied into OnStar but preferably not.

I didn't get to drive it yet (maybe tomorrow). Sales guy gave me the "CIA look". Like he's evaluating me like his life depended on it - kind of creepy. I actually liked the guy and he was pretty straightforward but makes me think...

Frankly, if I can drive one, like it, and get a good price - done and done.

Definitely a different car buying experience though...

forgot-
6. Head room and sunroof.
Sunroof cut's the head room about 2". Not really bad for me since the seat gets pretty low but I like the option to move to a higher sitting position and at it's highest my heads touching the roof. Would have been nice -but a no go for me - still not a deal killer though.

7. Sound system.
No clue yet.

8. Trunk.
Kind of odd. There looks like a lot of room but the opening is like a large oblong porthole. I think they screwed up on this point. Make the opening bigger - period. Odd.

Same here. I did not have the opportunity to test drive a Camaro, but I placed my deposit and went for it. Glad I did. I did get to sit in one at the dealership first, so I could see what all the fuss was over about the blind spot seeing out the back.

The only thing I'll tell you is to set your side mirrors so that you can no longer see the Camaro's shoulder...that will give you your best vision in using the three mirrors. It really is not any where near as bad as you might think!

ctrick, If you are anywhere near West Springfield Ma. go to Balise Chevy. They have a quite a few on the lot and will let you test drive. I had to go to Boston area to be able to just look. Heck I got it anyway. I just couldn't wait for the Vert to come out. I'll have a very difficult decision when they do come out after all the mods done.

Never drove one either and glad I didn't. The rush you get when you first drive this car is awesome.

just my opinion - The trunk opening is the way it is because it had to be. For a larger opening the design/look would have to be redesigned.

+1

The Killer looks the OP talked about in his first post made the size of the trunk opening what it is.

Remember that the rear seat folds down and you get a pretty wide opening there too to stick things in.
