I wouldn't mess with it. An ACDelco pf48 will work perfect. Stick in a magnetic drainplug, you'll know if there is ever a problem.

Two minutes with a hacksaw I can inspect the filter media in a pf48. Not to mention the warranty issue. That thing causes a problem, goodbye 100k engine warranty.

As far as I know the NTSB and the FAA can find no problems with the 787.
...but the flying public doesn't interact with suppliers. They are in a plane, they trust the plane manufacurer has validated all parts from all suppliers.

Just like if an xyz brand gas pedal sticks in a Toyota. The next of kin will be sueing the pants off Toyota, not the suppliers involved.
