New tires... all 4 wheels scratched

Had 4 tires mounted and balanced last night on stock MS 20" wheels. This morning I noticed all 4 wheels have pretty decent scratches on the face of each spoke, 1/2" from the edge of the wheel. I called first thing this morning to notify them of the issue and the lady got a bit offensive and simply said the tire machine doesn't even touch the wheels Heading there right after work to have them look at it

This is a TireRack recommended installer in my area.... but apparently someone doesn't know how to use their "state-of-the-art" tire mounting machine.

Edit:
here are pictures... ran out to look again at lunch - not as bad as I originally thought but the first picture is the worst spot. Drivers rear is almost spotless...

Yea I'm not really familiar with tire machines though so it was kind of vague. I watched a few videos of tire mounting using the machine TireRack says they have but really cannot see how the tech could have done it... other than using the machine incorrectly.

And there you have it. That's what happened.

If you ever take tires to be mounted, get out your smartphone and take pictures of them before, right in front of them.

How did you not notice it when you picked the car up? IMO you are going to have a hard time proving this now, hopefully they work with you.

It was dark when I left their shop last night (storms moving into the area) I noticed it when I got home in the garage but it was after closing hours. I called first thing this morning.

If that is what you did, and they care about their rep, they will make it right. I had a shop damage my interior last year after installing my stereo. Called them immediately after picking up the car (they were closed when I got the car back). Installer denied the damage but the owner told him "like the guy is going to intentionally damage his car after spending all that money on it". They paid the have the entire dash replaced, exactly what I wanted them to do. If they don't make it right, make sure everyone knows how they operate....

I was in the tire business for 15 years and this is definitely from the rim clamp tire machine. Go back and talk to the Manager. It will be obvious to him and I am sure they will take care of it.

Had the "tire irno" part of the machine scratch and goude 4 rims of eight. Didnt know what he was doing or didnt care, denied it of course but they fixed rims by machining and re clearcoating them. And this from place that sells custom rims!

Went back to the installer last night, manager came out walked around the car barely looking at the wheels and agreed to have them fixed by a mobile repair service. They didn't outright say this but from what I could make out of their conversation (her and another tech) they tech used the wrong machine...

She is supposed to call me to scheduled the mobile repair... which will require me to leave the car with them for a day.
