Pictures of my father, and his cars.
The blue one is a 72 Dodge Dart called Po'Boy,a drag car only.
The red one is a 73 Duster. We took the engine out of Po'boy and sold that car. We changed the cam, & installed into the 73 Duster. It was a street car, and an award winning show car, and drag car. Although it wasn't a camaro, it was what saved me from going down the wrong path, and the love of the automobile my father shared with me, changed my life forever. I love you dad. May you always hear the roar of the hotrods in this world. I'm in the picture of the red 73 Duster at fourteen years old ,watching him burnout. |

That is a cool story and a great looking car! My dad was never into cars but ever since I bought my car last spring I have wondered a few times if he were alive what he would think about the car I am driving now.

Dean, I'm sure your father would love the car you drive today. What is there not to love about this new Camaro.

4th phase begins Dec. 1, 2011- end of January 2012 in preparation for upcoming season
Black Beauty is in the air in the garage for the next two months as we clean the entire undercarriage, and bottom of engine.
The under side is hand painted with Por 15 Gloss Black chip resistant paint. 30 hours to complete this. Cross Brace, transmission pan, painted with Por 15 Chevrolet red high temp engine paint. Once dry it gives the appearance of being sprayed on, or powdered coated. Next step was to clean, and hand paint the engine itself in the car, painting every area I could get to laying on my back, or leaning over the front end using 15 different size hobby paint brushes, extensions, and mirrors, using Por 15 Chevrolet red high temp paint. This is a long, and tedious process, and something I wanted to do to set Black Beauty apart from the crowd, and give her that old school look. length of time to complete 15 hours first coat, 8 hours second coat. Installed final piece of of under hood stainless steel insert. Installed Carid stainless steel firewall. Painted engine compartment gloss black carbon fiber deck lid carbon fiber retro 5th gen rear spoiler from extreme motorsports chrome door latch cut, and trimmed the factory door sill plate to fit the front of the sub frame underneath front of motor and glued down carbon fiber racing pedals installed small camaro lettering on backside of third brake light painted SS emblem on steering wheel red dyed SS emblem on headrests red Installed all red various mode LED lighting underside of hood, around perimeter of engine compartment, behind the upper, and lower grille areas, hood vents, wheel wells, exhaust port openings, inside trunk, and foot wells. Black Beauty's biggest stage Indy Camaro 5 Fest III.
The Camaro 5 Fest III Indy, has by far been our most memorable one. It is not only our favorite track but the place where Black Beauty stood amongst her peers, and felt overwelmed by the caliber of builds done on the 5th Generation Camaros in attendance there. This would be her toughest competition yet. We we're just happy to be one of the crowd. The competitive side of me kept us in the parking lot of our hotel until 2:30 the day of the show, to give us a chance knowing full well in order to be the best, you have to beat the best. I needed to pull out all the stops. We we're honored when Team Chevrolet member David Leone ( Chevrolet Global Vehicle Assembly Line Executive), Presented us, & Black Beauty for his personal pick for Best Camaro in attendance. There were other owners picked as well by members of Team Chevrolet. We were honored by being picked, and happy to walk away with that award only. As everyone knows the actual winners would not be announced until later the next week due to weather conditions. We waited, and didn't know we had been picked as the BEST OF SHOW winner until our friend, Ruby Camaro called, & told us we had won the whole show. We were honored to just be a part of that show, and winning the award was beyond our wildest dreams. We were truly humbled to win this award, and returned a few weeks later for another show, and had Black Beauty's picture done on the track where she would have accepted, her award. WOW what a ride this has been. Enjoy the pics.

It's about time you put up a build thread. Let's go ahead and get Camaro of the Week under BB's belt.

Thanks Tysen, I didn't realize just how much we've done with this car, until we started organizing it all. We'll keep our fingers crossed for COTW. Thanks for posting, I know you were there in the beginning as well. It's taken some time ,blood, sweat, and tears for sure.
