Ugh! What is this!
A few weeks ago I did a full Adams polish, machine super sealent, let it cure for 24 hours, applied americana etc. I was all like hell yeah, my car is impervious to evil contaminates! Well last week I get a spot just like the above. I tried a wash. Didnt touch it. Then I tried clay. Barely did anything. I had to use the PC with fine polish to grind it out. Now I have another spot. WTF. If I keep it up at this rate I'll run out of clear coat! What is this?!?! I had washed my car and left it in my driveway for two days. There was no poop on the hood, no tree stuff (and no trees around, either), no dirt, no rain, no hard water. Do I just keep polishing them away? Im paranoid about running out of clear eventually lol. I thought the sealent and americana would be bullet proof :(

The FMP is no where near strong enough to eat through the clear coat. So no worries there. But yea that is weird

Have u washed your towels yet? I recently washed mine and after I washed the car, those spots were there. Truth is, I could only see them at certain angles so it was probably there and u just didn't catch it until then

I would agree with the thought that the spot was already there.
It looks like a bird bomb stain. But here is the thing, unless you use a permanent paint coating, such as Optimum Opti-Coat 2.0 or C-Quartz, NOTHING you put on the paint is going to offer impervious protection against acidic elements. Any wax or sealant coating is sub-micron in thickness. If something is strong enough to eat through the clear coat (which is cross-linked and tough) then it is going to eat through the wax or sealant fairly quickly. The wax/sealant gives you more time, for sure, but that's it. It is a sacrificial barrier that sacrifices itself (until it is gone) to protect your paint. |

That right there, that's the holy spirit.
It looks greasy/oily kind of, almost like it's detail spray applied on a hot surface that maybe you missed? Sometimes happens to me, however you said it took a machine polish to get off? Did you first try DS + MF Towel wipe? Like the above poster said, FMP isn't abrasive enough to eat your clear coat away It looks like it was something pretty thick the way it sits on the car and has a very defined border. Not sure, good luck and I look forward to a answer... and a solution for you! |

BINGO! Thats almost certainly etching from a bird bomb... either there before you started and maybe wasn't obvious in the lighting you had, or happend afterwards and sat long enough to get thru the sealant and down to the clear. In any event it should polish out. I'd strip that area with IPA to remove whatever products you have on there now, polish as needed, then reapply your protection. |

What ever it is or was, it started out in a mostly liquid form from the looks of the stain. I would agree it kinda looks like cat pee. When I had stray cats in the neighborhood, they did serious damage to the paint on cars that had to sit outside. Needless to say, there are no more stray cats in my neighborhood.

Looks like some bird poop sat too long. Bird crap stains are a pain to remove.

Todd is right on this, looks like a bird bomb that was on there some thing back and you didn't see or notice it and was wash off by rain. It looks like the damage is done.Sorry to see this happen to you. Once it's fix, I would like at the Optimum Opti-Coat 2.0 Permanent Paint Coating to protect your finish.
