I am interested in this discussion. I'm 20,xxx miles at 18 months. When I get close to my 36,xxx or 3 years; I'd be looking at a plan (bumper to bumper) to compliment my powertrain warranty with 5 yrs or 100,xxx miles.

Well first off there is a dealer that sells them at discounted prices... I cant remember the name at the moment howevet search the fourms. I have the extended warranty. Its not a true bumper to bumper it does not cover all items your 36k offers. Also, you will have a deductable since u will be considered used vehicle

I have the extended. Bought it w/ the car. Figured with the technology on it and such large wheels it was worth it. Plus the free maintenance doesn't hurt either

Mine was $1,695 plus tax on the day of the purchase of the car/0 miles. Doubled the original 3/36 to 6/72 and I am not entirely sure if it raised the powertain to 6/100 vs 5/100 or not. Cheers.
edit: Considering get rid of mine, if I hold onto this LLT like I should I want to do some mods. Back to the regularly scheduled programming... |

If you go with GMPP, get it here: http://www.gmoutlet.com/gmpp.htm
Most likely the lowest price you'll find online or in person.

I have the extended, Bumper to Bumper at 6 yrs/60k. "Think" I got a reasonable discount on it.

The dealer 'sold' me a 75K/5 year bumper to bumper extended warranty (said its $100 deductible to use it). I told him no, and he kept dropping the price lower and lower. Finally he was a $5 extra a month for the warranty and I still told him no. Well, after a little aggravation on his part, he GAVE me the warranty. I have the signed paperwork and all. Guess being stubborn paid off.

didn't buy one. dealer wanted over 2k for it. it's actually the first time in 5 purchases where I didn't buy. never used one in my life, and there's a standard 5yr 100k powertrain warranty anyways.

The price depends upon when you purchase the extended warranty, for how long, and the deductable you choose.
I'm not a big believer in extended warranties unless it's for a BIG ticket item. TV's and other appliances = NO. Automobiles = YES. The way I look at it is there is alot more that can go wrong on a vehicle, and repairs are NOT cheap. Normally I trade vehicles every 2 to 3 years, but I have a '06 Silverado that I've kept because I really love it. The one thing nice about extended warranties is that if you trade the vehicle in before the warranty period expires, the dealer will "pro-rate" the unused portion and give you a refund. If you sell to a private owner, the warranty is transferable (a good selling point). Beware of non-GM extended warranties, I've heard stories that GM dealers won't honor them. |
