World Cup 2014!!

ok ladies and gentlemen, i would like to know if anyone has traveled to a world cup (Soccer). I am a huge fan to national soccer team but not clubs and one of my dreams is to attend a world cup and the closest one is in brazil. I know there isnt' many soccer fans out there but if there is im hoping one person can chime in and tell me ball park how much money i should save for this adventure like plane ticket(round-trip), hotel, tickets to a game, food. i have 3 years but those three years can come really fast.

My wife and I are looking to go to one of the games in Brazil. If we can make it to a game in Recife, we've potentially got some people we could stay with. I don't know how much prices change on game tickets throughout the years, but this past Cup's tickets ranged from $20 to $900, based on where you wanted to sit and what match you were attending. The average price was $139, I believe.

The initial plan was to save up $3K or so to be safe. That number may have to change, but it's what we initially came up with, if that helps you at all.

World Cup is the greatest show on earth and to be there is one for the books. I will be going to Brazil in 2014 and be part of a history. That would be great. I will be betting for Spain again!!

I've been invited to a couple qualifiers over here in Europe, but I had zero interest. Tickets are impossible to get at face value, and hotel rooms will be double the price. It's ridiculous! I'm glad I hate soccer!
