Mine rattled too common problem.

Hurst now puts in rubber pieces to help with the noise on there shifters.

Any Camaro is a nice ride.

Yes, that's what I thought too. I'm not desperate to get rid of my car. I love my car! It's just now...I love the SS too! I'll be picky.

Could it be the heat shield? I have a 2010 Auto and I took it in because after a track day I heard some "tinny" typr rattle. It was the heat shield. i dont know what the dealer did but they fixed it.

For the record, the factory Hurst was not available until MY 2011. Like others have said the rattle likely comes from the aftermarket shifter. I had an early Hurst aftermarket on my 2010 SS and it rattled. This is due to the bushing material wearing out and becoming sloppy. There is a fix for that without dropping $300-400 for a new shifter. Hurst has an improved bushing you can get and there is also a member on here who started making replacements bushings before Hurst released theirs. Here is a link to one of the threads.

MY QUESTION IS: when I accelerated hard, I would hear a rattling sound, loud enough to hear clearly. The sales guy blew it off as the muffler probably needed to be tightened...whatever, it wasn't a muffler sound. Long story short, I later left him a message to see if they could check that sound out before I actually considered the car. He called back this afternoon and said "you aren't going to like what I'm going to tell you. The service guys said that, the rattling sound is common with the 2SS manuals and according to Chevrolet, there's no fix for it yet." Have any of you that have an SS experienced this sound and if so, is it a common occurrence? That sound, with no fix, would bug the heck out of me. Thanks for any input on this.
Someone is a liar.. ( big surprise it's a car salesman)
we have a ton of LS3 Manuals around here and NONE rattle.
Mine has 10k now and not 1 rattle anywhere in the car and it has been road raced, and drag raced, and daily driven on Houston's terrible streets.

I had it a pretty good rattle. Mine was the heat shield vibrating on the driveshaft.

Heard nothing but excellent things from that companies product.
The shifter in the car is not stock. It's an aftermarket Hurst. I had one and right after installing it it rattled. I fixed that with the MGW shifter and never had a problem in over 10,000 miles. You get quality with that shifter.

Thanks for the info and the link! VERY good information to know about it not being available until the 11s. They were so adamant that is was factory installed. Is there really any way to tell if it's factory or aftermarket just by looking?
