Price Variations

I'm thinking of selling my '01 SS, but I'm getting quite a range of prices for what I may be able to get out of it. A similar car on Autotrader was listed for $16,000 but Kelley Blue Book provides a value of about $11,000. Just wanted to get some of your opinions.

2001 SS Red Exterior/Black Interior
63,500 miles
SLP center-mounted exhaust
17" 10-spoke chrome wheels
Leather
T-tops
CD Player and CD Changer (Monsoon)

Everything is stock. Exterior is in great condition with a couple chips in the paint. Never been wrecked. Interior is flawless.

I'm the second owner and have put 50,000 of the miles on it. It has always been garaged.

How much do you think it's worth?

Could probably go a bit lower. I got my 02 for 16k with similar mileage, and signature customization... And mine's an Anniversary car...

If you have the SLP window sticker to go with the SLP options and supplemental SS manual and given the low milage I don't think $16K is a bad price. There were very few 01 SS's built with the CME because it was a mid-year option.

Blue book is a joke. I tend to ask what the market is asking, not what some book tells me.

It really depends on your area. I don't know how much they run for in your area so I won't comment on that but around here you would be hard pressed to get $10k out of it. I've seen quite a few '01 and '02 SS converts with miles as low or lower then yours sell for just $8-$9k.

It really does depend on the area you live in. FL and TX has plenty of good 4th gens to pick through but the North doesnt so a good car with command extra cash.

All in all for a completely stock SS that has a few SLP options I can expect that you can get around 12-14k if you found the right buyer for it.

NADA is FAR better than the KBB too.

Do your research. Go through autotrader and do a price range search of anywhere between 9k to 16k and see what cars come up and do a wide area search NOT just whats in your area becauase people are willing to travel. Im looking to pay 17k for an 02 w/15,000 original miles if that gives you an Idea. I have been looking for sometime now for the rigth deal so i have a good idea of the market.

I would say start with $14,000 obo see what you come up with.

It gets even tricker with the '96-'99 SS's with very low miles. A '96 SS with 17k miles on it can book as low as 6kto 8K. That would be a steal. You really need to know the market and price it accordingly.
