I don't necessarily think stronger was what he was originally going for. It's made to add a extra bit of room so his exhaust doesn't hit the bar. He was creative and made something that's esthetically more appealing while adding a bit more rigidity to the design. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that it's stronger than the OEM sheet. The question will be, how it will hold up to the constant flexing over time.

IMO, $195 is quite expensive for this part. Don't get me wrong, I think you probably have that much in time and material invested. It's just that sometimes making your own parts isn't always cheaper, especially when you're milling them out of a solid piece of aluminum. That being said, there's always a portion of the community that will buy them no matter what.

Little update:

Going to get material on order early this next week for an initial run of parts. Also getting my plater to quote anodizing. I'm going with "business black." Was considering doing just bare aluminum, but anodizing resists corrosion so well and looks great too. Will add only a little bit of cost. Going to get my tweeked design run and will post up pics and info and make a thread in the Vendors Section. Stay tuned... it won't be long now!!

I had also thought about that too. But, my main goal was to keep the price down. We don't do much engraving so when we do, we program in either line center or slot format which is time consuming and would drive cost up a bit. We don't use any "can" cycles for engraving like places that engrave alot. I also figured it would be kind of pointless because the only person who would see your engraving would be you or a mechanic when its on jacks or a lift.

And who's jealous...? Potential customers are voicing their concerns over the durability of a product with the word "brace" in its name. Simple as that...

It's a plate with some holes in it, which looks great and fulfills the need it was intended to fulfill - add space for the exhaust. Is it stronger? Yes. Will it fail? I seriously doubt it

I'm glad you caved on the anodizing. That's a must, and should only a few bucks to the price. Good luck with this...

I'd be in for one of those. Make a bunch up and bring 'em to C5Fest (although I guess they technically would want you registered as a vendor)

I've seen some stuff about camarofest but haven't really read up much on it. Where is it being held?

Here's something to think about... if you can bend the stock one in any particular direction, that more than likely is not the direction that the part is trying to prvent the body from moving.
I was thinking the same thing. I suspect the part is there to act as a driveshaft and exhaust pipe safety loop - not as a tunnel brace.

Solved the same exhaust clearance problem on a G8 by adding 3/8 in spacers between the tunnel and the plate.

Update: Going to free up some time on my mill on either Friday or Monday to run the braces. Then going to the plater for a 2-3 day turn. Then PICS!!
