Ok, speaking hypothetically

Say GM came through with a turbocharged V6 with 400hp and 380 lb of torque, flex fuel equipped in place of the "mid level" V8. What would you do??

Tough choice. You gotta love that V8 rumble, and it just doesn't seem right to have a Camaro without it, but power is power and efficiency is great. I'd need more information.

The economy gains would be minimal for something with that much boost, the weight would be about the same, V8 with same numbers will perform better, and the V8 would cost less, and still probably be flex fuel capable. Plus the V8 would sound way more awesome. Thats my take on it at least

I prioritize power over sound. I know how important that rumble is to the traditional muscle car, but I see the Camaro as a new muscle car. While it has all those classic cues, it really isn't all that retro. If the motor has to be a turbo V6, I'll still drive it with pride.

I'd like to have a V8 but 400+ horses is 400+ horses. I think I'm just stuck on hoping it has forced induction so it will be easier to make more power through adding more boost

How would you classify a Buick GNX(turbo v6)?

I do agree I would rather have a v8 and there are many aftermarket turbo and supercharger kits out there if you want to add it later.

I would be buying the Camaro because I want a musclecar/hot rod. Gotta have a V8. If I wanted a daily driver grocery getter that had that kind of v6 power then I would easily consider the v6.

EDIT:
I'm more likely to get a HiPo v6 in a malibu, impala, or Monte than the camaro. my .02

I would classify it as a sports car, or maybe just an oddball. But a muscle car is a rear drive V8 with a healthy power to weight ratio, at a fairly afordable price.

Don't get me wrong I would definitely choose a v8 over a turbo 6 anyday. But, I would consider any high powered American made car a muscle car, and I dont think there are any buicks I would consider sporty.
